In a major boost to Bihar’s infrastructure, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inaugurated the long-awaited six-lane Kacchi Dargah-Bidupur Bridge in Patna. Spanning 9.76 km across the Ganges, the bridge connects Kacchi Dargah in Patna with Bidupur in Vaishali district, linking National Highways 31 and 322.
This development marks the completion of the first phase of a project envisioned in 2015 to provide direct connectivity to previously isolated areas like Diyara Jalla. This will lead to a significant improvement in travel time and accessibility. The new structure will also ease congestion on the Mahatma Gandhi Setu and is expected to be fully operational by July 2025.
Additionally, a new bridge between Arrah and Chhapra has been proposed to further expand Bihar’s highway network.
