Cargill India is setting up a corn milling plant at Davanagere, in Karnataka. The investment is about Rs 500 crore and is projected to be operational from September 2015.
This corn milling unit is spread across 44.5 acre of land in Karnataka and the facility is under construction. It will have an overall capacity of three lakh tpa. The company aims to use only 50 per cent of the capacity in the first year of commencement. Its full capacity will be utilised in three years.
The plant will provide employment opportunities to around 390 people in this region.
In India, Karnataka is the largest corn producing state. At present, there are two plants set up by other private companies in the state.
