On 07 December, 2025, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated 125 strategically important BRO infrastructure projects from Ladakh, marking the highest number launched in a single event.
Valued at around Rs 5,000 crore, these projects span Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir and seven other States, including Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, West Bengal and Mizoram. These include 28 roads, 93 bridges and other key assets, forming the largest-value inauguration in BRO history. At the Shyok Tunnel site on the Darbuk Shyok Daulat Beg Oldie Road, he highlighted the 920-mtrs. tunnel designed for all-weather connectivity in one of the world’s toughest terrains.
The Defence Minister also inaugurated the Galwan War Memorial and stressed that border infrastructure strengthens security, mobility, logistics, tourism and employment. Citing Operation Sindoor, he said synergy among forces, officials and locals is the nation’s “unique identity.” Singh noted BRO’s humanitarian efforts, technological gains and record expenditure, reaffirming the government’s commitment to modern border infrastructure and self-reliant defence manufacturing.
