Germany-based ebm-papst Group, a global leader in fans, blowers, and motors, has announced an investment of Rs 340 crore to establish a new manufacturing plant near Chennai. This marks the company’s third factory in India and is expected to multiply its current production capacity by at least four times.
The facility will be set up on a 14-acre site in Sunguvarchatram, about 50 km west of Chennai. The facility, which will become operational by next year, is projected to create 700 work opportunities upon full commissioning, including 500 roles in the initial phase.
This expansion aligns with the company’s "local for local" strategy, enhancing its ability to serve both domestic and international markets from India. ebm-papst India currently operates two factories in Chennai and recently launched a global capability centre employing 130 professionals.
The company also sees significant opportunities in sectors such as data centres, renewable energy, and modernisation of commercial buildings. Its EC motors offer energy savings of 30–50 percent compared to traditional AC systems, aligning with India’s sustainability goals.
