The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh has urged the Ministry of Environment & Forests to accord early environmental clearance to Stage-II of Shree Singaji power project near village Purni, Khandwa, in East Nimar.
The project is being implemented by an SPV - Shree Singaji Power Project - of Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Company. The coal-based power plant, with 2 x 660 MW capacity, is estimated to cost Rs 6,750 crore.
The power plant already has all the pre-requisites for early development. In June 2013, the Ministry of Coal had allocated Gondbahera-Ujjaini coal block having 532 million tonne reserve for the project. However, the project is also waiting for Stage-I clearance for the Gondbahera-Ujjaini coal block.
Stage-I of the Shree Singaji power project is under execution.
