Jindal Steel and Power (JSPL), has inaugurated an 810 MW (6 x 135 MW) captive power plant at Kerjenga, in Angul district of Orissa.
The captive power plant is part of the company's six million tpa integrated steel plant located at Angul.
Apart from this, the company will soon start producing sponge iron, using synthesis gas from the coal-to-gas (CTG) plant. The CTG plant will produce 2,25,000 Nm3 / hr synthetic gas.
Also, the company is planning to acquire an iron ore mine in West Africa to secure raw material for its recently commissioned two million tpa steel plant in Oman.
JSPL is in discussions with a few companies in West African countries like Cameroon, Senegal and Nigeria for acquisition of an iron ore mine, and is looking to close the deal by July-September 2014.
