JSW Cement, part of the USD23 billion JSW Group, has commissioned a new cement grinding unit in Sambalpur, Odisha, through its subsidiary Shiva Cement.
The facility, with a capacity of 1.0 million tonne per annum (MTPA), funded and overseen by the subsidiary through a commercial deal with Bhushan Power and Steel strengthens JSW Cement’s presence in Eastern India to meet rising regional demand. This addition raises JSW Cement’s total grinding capacity to 21.6 MTPA across India.
Wit Shiva Cement's facilitiy, strategically located near Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand, the unit leverages proximity to raw materials and supports the region’s industrial growth. CEO Nilesh Narwekar highlighted the unit’s role in expanding JSW Cement’s eco-friendly footprint while aligning with the company’s plan to reach a grinding capacity of 41.85 MTPA nationwide. The company maintains the lowest carbon emission intensity in the industry, showcasing its commitment to sustainable growth.
