Jayaswal Neco Industries received the green nod from the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF), for its integrated steel plant and 100 MW captive power plant at Bilaspur district of Chhattisgarh.
The MoEF clearance to the Rs 3,800 crore project is subject to strict compliance of a few conditions. These include preparation of Rehabilitation and Resettlement (R & R) Plan and its submission to the Chhattisgarh Government. Along with this, the developer has to ensure that the use of average sulphur and ash content in the coal fines, middlings and dolochar for the FBC boilers be less than 0.5 per cent and 45 per cent respectively.
In addition to this, the ministry has also given some conditions which state that on-line ambient air quality monitoring and continuous stack monitoring facilities for all the stacks should be provided. The conditions also state that sufficient air pollution control devices like Electrostatic precipitator (ESP), and bag filters etc, shall be provided to keep the emission levels below 50 mg/Nm3 by installing energy efficient technology.
MoEF has also considered regular monitoring of influent and effluent surface, sub-surface and ground water while treated wastewater shall meet the norms prescribed by the State Pollution Control Board. All the effluent should be treated and used for ash handling, dust suppression and green belt development.
