Jindal Power, a subsidiary of Jindal Steel & Power, has commissioned Unit-I of its coal-based power plant at Tamnar, in Raigarh district of Chhattisgarh.
Unit-I of the project, with 600 MW capacity, has achieved full load. It has been commissioned in a record period of 27 months.
Jindal Power is developing 2,400 MW (4 x 600 MW) at Tamnar, with an investment of Rs 13,410 crore.
The other two units of the project are expected to be commissioned by the end of March 2014. Unit-II, with 600 MW capacity, has already been synchronised on 22 February 2014, and Unit-III is in an advanced stage of synchronisation.
On completion of the 2,400 MW power plant, the company will have a total capacity of 3,400 MW in Tamnar. Jindal Power has envisaged having a total capacity of 10,000 MW by 2020, with a unique approach of amalgamating diverse forms of power in thermal, hydro, solar, and wind.
