The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) has given environmental clearance (EC) to the 2x660 MW super critical imported coal-based thermal power plant of KU Thermal Power, a Hyderabad based company.
The proposed project is located at Ottapidaram and Sillanatham villages in Tuticorin district of Tamil Nadu. The optimised land requirement for the project is 750 acres of which 725 acres has already been acquired.
The company has signed Fuel Supply Agreement (FSA) with PT Krishapusaka Sejati for providing imported coal from Indonesia.
The estimated cost of the project is Rs 6,600 crore.
