Kalupur Railway Station in Ahmedabad is undergoing a major redevelopment as part of India's national station modernisation program.
The station, which currently has 10 platforms, will see the addition of three new ones. This expansion aims to modernize passenger amenities, including a 16-storey building dedicated to services and conveniences. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw confirmed that the redevelopment will integrate Kalupur Station with the upcoming bullet train project, ensuring smooth connectivity between high-speed rail, metro, and BRTS systems.
A new concourse roof plaza will cover all platforms, while elevated roads and foot overbridges will facilitate easy transfers across the city. The modernisation is part of a larger national initiative to revamp over 1,300 railway stations across the country.
