The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has cleared 19 major infrastructure projects worth over Rs 12,000 crore to boost urban mobility in the Mumbai region. These include key civil works for Metro Lines 4 (Wadala–Kasarvadavali), 4A (Kasarvadavali–Gaimukh), and 6 (Swami Samarth Nagar–Vikhroli–EEH).
Larsen & Toubro secured a Rs 4,788 crore contract for an integrated package covering Lines 4 and 4A. To ensure efficient last-mile connectivity, Rs 535 crore was sanctioned for multi-modal integration (MMI) at 32 stations, which will be executed by four joint ventures. Additionally, Aurionpro Solutions has been awarded a Rs 249 crore contract for the automatic fare collection (AFC) system for Lines 4 and 4A.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that the projects will enhance economic growth and urban life. Deputy CM Eknath Shinde called the investments a step toward building a sustainable and inclusive Metro network. Metropolitan Commissioner Sanjay Mukherjee highlighted that the works—ranging from systems integration to traction power, are crucial to ensuring operational readiness across Mumbai’s expanding metro corridors.
