The Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has approved funds for the construction of a 47.9 km stretch of the 77.4km Nashik ring road, a major infrastructure project aimed at easing traffic for the upcoming Simhastha Kumbh Mela.

The total cost for this section is Rs 5,805 crore, including Rs 2,650 crore for land acquisition. While MoRTH will cover the construction costs for the stretch, the state will handle the cost for rest of the project as well as land acquisition cost. The ring road is designed to reduce congestion in Nashik city and improve freight movement. It will connect key expressways, including the Tawa-Nashik and Nashik-Chennai expressways, and bypass sensitive areas like the Deolali military cantonment.

The road will be a four-lane highway with six-lane capacity, including bridges, underpasses, and viaducts. According to Kumbh Mela Authority Commissioner, Shekhar Singh, "The route will ensure smooth traffic dispersal and reduce congestion within Nashik city limits."
