Mumbai is to get two elevated railway lines; one from Churchgate to Virar and the other from CST to Panvel, along with a six-lane road running below it.
The two elevated railway lines have got their principle approvals from both, Union Railway Minister, Suresh Prabhu, and the Maharashtra Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis.
The Railway Minister has proposed to Fadnavis to examine the feasibility of having a six lane road running below the elevated lines on the Central and Western Railway. Also, a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) will be formed for implementing projects in Maharashtra.
An Integrated Transport Authority (ITA) will be created to ensure there are no delays in Railway projects.
