Work on the 1,200 MW (2X600 MW) coal based power plant to be set up by GMR
Energy at Raipur in Chhattisgarh has been reportedly delayed as land acquisition
has not yet been completed.
According to sources, the power plant to be set up at a cost of Rs 5,500
crore requires around 1,300 acre, of which 30 per cent is yet to be acquired.
About 60 percent of the project land belongs to the farmers, while rest is owned
by the state government.
The company had planned to begin construction by September 2009.
