GMR Energy is likely to commence construction work on its 1,200 MW (2x600 MW)
coal based power project in Raikheda area of Raipur district of Chhattisgarh by
March 2010.
The Rs 6,000 crore project needs about 1,000 acre and the company is likely
to complete the land acquisition process soon. The power plant is likely to get
water from Mahanadi river, some 40 km from the proposed plant site.
The Unit I of 600 MW is expected to be commissioned after 45 months and the
second will come up in 50 months from the commencement of construction.
The company had signed the deal for the project in June 2007 with the state
government.
