Hindalco Industries, a part of the Aditya Birla Group, has raised Rs 7,875
crore in debt for its greenfield aluminium smelter plant at Mahan in Madhya
Pradesh.
Hindalco raised the loan on a floating rate basis for a tenor of 12.75 years
from SBI Capital Markets, Citi Bank N.A., The Royal Bank of Scotland N.V. and
Kotak Mahindra Bank, which acted as mandated lead arrangers, and 31
bank/insurance companies. The company signed a loan agreement on 30 March 2011.
The smelter project is to have an annual capacity of 3,59,000 tonne and will
also include a 900 MW power plant.
