Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the 76-km Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II) and the 29-km Dwarka Expressway on 17 August, 2025, marking a major step in decongesting the National Capital Region (NCR).
The access-controlled corridors will provide uninterrupted travel for vehicles from Chandigarh towards Indira Gandhi International Airport, Gurugram, and Jaipur, reducing load on Delhi’s Ring Road and arterial roads. The Rs 9,000 crore Dwarka Expressway, built in four packages, and the Rs 7,716 crore UER-II, developed in five packages, are now complete. PM Modi had earlier inaugurated the Haryana section of the Dwarka Expressway in March 2024.
UER-II, planned under the Delhi Master Plan 2021, starts at Alipur on NH-44 and links NH-9 and NH-48, with 54.2 km in Delhi and 21.5 km in Haryana. The expressway connects to the proposed India International Convention Centre in Dwarka, featuring eight lanes, grade separation, threelane service roads, four multi-level interchanges, and major underpasses. NHAI has also invited bids for multi-lane free flow tolling on the corridor.
