A new six-lane elevated corridor has been proposed to connect Senapati Bapat Marg near Phoenix and Kamla Mills with Lala Lajpatrai Road at Haji Ali, where the Mumbai Coastal Road has entry and exit points. This 1.5-km stretch is expected to reduce travel time by up to 30 minutes—between central Mumbai areas like Parel, Dadar, Matunga, and Mahim and the Coastal Road.

The viaduct will run along the edge of Mahalaxmi Racecourse and near NSCI Dome, beginning from the coastal road's entry point and ending near E Moses Road. Officials from the urban development department confirmed that the project will not involve land acquisition or disturb existing traffic during construction.

The corridor will seamlessly connect to roads like Gokhale Road, NM Joshi Marg, Bhavani Shankar Road, and Lady Jamshed Road, giving motorists direct access to key hubs including Siddhivinayak Temple, Shivaji Park, and Mahim. Deputy CM Eknath Shinde, whose office unveiled the plan with the Public Works Department, described the initiative as “a transformative move” for Mumbai’s infrastructure. The project cost is estimated between Rs 250 crore and Rs 300 crore, and implementing agencies are yet to be finalised.
