The Punjab government has modified its Medicity policy regarding allotment of land or plots or setting up multi-speciality hospitals, medical universities or colleges-cum-hospitals and medical research centres in New Chandigarh.
Also, the policy on Information and Technology to set up IT services, ITES bio-technology and research and development (R&D) facilities in the tech-zone of SAS Nagar has been amended by the government.
The Punjab cabinet has approved the detailed policy in this regard so as to give a boost to business ventures in Medicity and IT City under the "Invest Punjab" initiatives.
Medicity, which will be one of the largest places for bio-techonology and healthcare solutions, has been allocated 260 acre of land in New Chandigarh (Mullanpur) where 100 acre will be utilised for setting up of world class multi-speciality hospitals, medical university/medical college-cum-hospital and medical research centre.
