Rolls-Royce is looking to make India its third "home market" outside the UK, with plans for significant investment in the country.
The company is focusing on developing next-generation aero engines for India's advanced medium combat aircraft (AMCA) programme, a key initiative aimed at powering the Indian Air Force's future combat aircraft. Sashi Mukundan, Executive Vice-President of Rolls-Royce India, mentioned that extensive discussions are ongoing regarding this partnership. Rolls-Royce already considers the UK, US, and Germany as its primary markets, where it has substantial manufacturing facilities.
The company aims to build a full aero-engine value chain in India, unlocking opportunities in various sectors such as jet engines, naval propulsion, and advanced engineering. Executive VP Mukundan emphasised that Rolls-Royce is committed to supporting India’s aerospace and defense ambitions, stating, "If India is thinking about next-generation engines, Rolls-Royce is ready to partner."
