Tata Steel is likely to commission its projects at Kalinganagar and Gopalpur in Orissa in 2015-16.
The company is implementing an integrated steel plant at Kalinganagar in Jajpur district, with six million tpa capacity. The project, estimated to cost Rs 40,000 crore, is likely to be operational by the end of FY15.
Construction work of the carbon ferrochrome plant at Gopalpur in Ganjam district is expected to be completed in another 18 months. At present, the company is sorting out some 'local issues' at the project site. Construction of the 50,000 tonne per annum ferro-alloy unit has already begun and equipment is ready. Tata Steel will invest Rs 1,000 crore in the project.
