The State Level Single Window Clearance Authority (SLSWCA) in Orissa has given approval to Tata Power to change the location of its power plant from Naraj-Marthapur near Cuttack district, to Begunia in Khurda district.
Since the original site at Naraj-Marthapur was in the vicinity of the Chandaka-Dampara wildlife sanctuary, Tata Power was forced to shift the location of its coal-fired plant due to environmental concerns. The new site measures about 975 acre and is split into two plots.
Along with this, the SLSWCA has accorded clearance to the two logistic parks of Container Corporation of India (Concor). These two parks will be developed at Paradip with an investment of Rs 113 crore and at Muniguda at a cost of Rs 123 crore.
Meanwhile, SLSWCA has recommended J Green Power and JSW to refer to the High Level Clearance Authority (HLCA) for final approval.
J Green Power has proposed to set up an LNG power plant at Dhamra, banking on gas supplies from the five million tonne LNG terminal proposed at the same location by Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL). The project will entail an investment of Rs 3,106 crore.
JSW has proposed to set up a steel project at Kendrapada in the vicinity of a port, at a cost of Rs 15,000 crore.
