Unit-II of the coal-based power plant of Sasan Power, a subsidiary of Reliance Power, in Sidhi district of Madhya Pradesh, has commenced power generation.
Unit-II of the project has 660 MW capacity. The unit has commenced power generation within a month from boiler light up. The power project, with 3,960 MW capacity, is being developed by Sasan Power in six units. The project entails an investment of Rs 20,000 crore.
Unit-I of the project, with 660 MW capacity, was already commissioned in March 2013. The remaining four units of 660 MW capacity are in an advanced stage of construction and will be commissioned over the next few months.
With commissioning of Unit-II, Reliance Power's generation capacity has increased to 3,205 MW which includes 3,120 MW of thermal capacity and 85 MW of renewable energy-based capacity.
