The Karnataka government has cleared 13 projects worth Rs 9,912 crore. This was approved during the state high level cabinet committee meeting on 15 October, 2014.
This committee is headed by Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah and other senior officials. Clearance of these projects is expected to generate employment to 5,986 people in nine of the 30 districts.
The prominent projects cleared were of Sandur Manganese Iron Ore (Rs 6,306 crore), Deerfield Logistics (Rs 1,000 crore), King Wood Decor (Rs 704 crore), Toyota Auto Parts (Rs 250 crore), Sree Angadi Dutta Sugars (Rs 224 crore), Micro Labs (Rs 200 crore) and Cataler India Auto Parts (Rs 105 crore). In addition, the committee gave approval for expansion proposals of Bilagi Sugar Mills, Gujarat Ambuja Exports, Sadashiva Sugars and EID (India) Parry.
The 13 projects are spread across different sectors which include sugar (four), infrastructure (three), automobiles (two) and one each in food processing, iron and steel, infrastructure and pharmaceuticals.
In this state, of the nine districts where the projects will be located, two projects will each be in Bagalkot, Bangalore, Mysore and Ramanagara, and one each will be in Bellary, Dharwad, Haveri, Kolar and Uttara Kannada.
