Assam Petrochemicals has received environment clearance from the Ministry of Environment & Forests (MoEF) for its petrochemicals project at Namrup, in Dibrugarh district of Assam.
The company is setting up a methanol unit, with a capacity of 500 tonne per day at Namrup, at a cost of Rs 1,228 crore. The project, spread over 55 acre, comprises a gas-based power plant with a capacity of five MW and an acetic acid unit with a capacity of 200 tonne per day.
In the project, 51 per cent stake will be held by the state government and the remaining 49 per cent will be held by Oil India and Assam Gas Company.
