The Mumbai Rail Vikas Corporation (MRVC) has proposed to build at least 20 foot overbridges (FOBs). This will be constructed on the mid-sections of Central, Western, Harbour and Trans-Harbour lines.

A detailed report by Sir J J School of architecture has been submitted to the Central Railway and Western Railway. Based on the report, from the 130 locations, the consultants have identified the trespassing pattern at 20 critical locations, which are 500 mtr to a km away from the railway stations.

As per Government Railway Police (GRP) records, 2,510 people have died in accidents involving suburban railways, since January 2014. The figure was 3,513 in 2013 and 3,543 in the year 2012. Due to trespassing, about 50 per cent contributes to the total number of deaths in railway accidents.

The FOBs at each of the 20 locations will go over the tracks and land on the city side. This will help people to cross the tracks safely.
