Rs 1.81 Lakh Crore Contracts Awarded

During the first quarter of the fiscal FY2026, a total of 2,290 project contracts, valued at Rs 1,81,285.44 crore, were awarded. These contracts were secured by 1,706 companies spanning various key sectors. Notably, 17 of the awarded contracts were bagged by Indian companies for undertaking job work overseas.
The quarter also saw the awarding of 38 mega project contracts each worth Rs 1,000 crore or more with a cumulative value of Rs 81,750.16 crore. These mega deals accounted for approx. 45.09 percent of the total order value awarded during the period.
By Sectors
The Infrastructure sector which includes Transport and Social Infrastructure sectors dominated project contract activity in Q1/FY26, accounting for 77.29 percent of the total contract value awarded. During the quarter, 1,923 contracts worth Rs 1,40,120.95 crore were finalised in this sector.
Within this, key sub-sectors such as Real Estate, Roadways, Community Services, Railways, Power Distribution, and Water & Pipeline & Distribution emerged as top contributors, collectively representing approx. 65.07 percent of the total contract value awarded during the quarter.
The Real Estate sector delivered a robust performance in Q1/FY26, by finalising 266 project contracts amounting to Rs 38,450.67 crore and accounting for 21.21 percent of the total contract value.
Among the key contributors, the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) led the way by awarding 27 contracts worth Rs 17,700.49 crore for the development of the greenfield capital city project 'Amaravati'. Of the 27 contracts finalised, major contractors who bagged notable contracts are:
1. Megha Engineering & Infrastructures (MEIL) bagged five contracts worth Rs 5,608.17 crore
2. Larsen & Toubro (L&T) was awarded five contracts totalling Rs 3,236.42 crore
3. BSR Infratech India secured seven contracts aggregating to Rs 3,176.21 crore
4. RVR Projects won four contracts amounting to Rs 2,813.66 crore
These contracts also covered construction of balance smart trunk infrastructure with roads, drains, water supply, sewerage, utility ducts (for power and ICT), reuse waterlines in Zone-9A, 12A area, and several related work.
The Roadways sector remained a key contributor in Q1/FY26, with 626 contracts awarded, with a total value of Rs 2,4930.5 crore accounting for 13.75 percent of the overall contracts finalised during the quarter. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) emerged as a major player, awarding 31 contracts cumulatively worth Rs 8,856.66 crore.
Prominent NHAI-awarded contracts:
1. Dineshchandra R. Agrawal Infracon was awarded a Rs 5,729 crore contract for the construction of the Guwahati Ring Road, including the stretch from A. Chandrapur to Sonapur (km 55.54), B. Jayanagar Underpass (km 163.237) to Jorabat (km 171.000) of NH-27, and improvement of the four-to-six-lane section from km 1097.150 to 184.700 in Assam under the DBFOT (Toll) model.
2. NKC Projects secured a Rs 900.85 crore contract for the four-laning of a greenfield corridor from Suara (Sasaram) to Garhani (SH-12) - Package-1 of the Patna-Arrah-Sasaram corridor (NH-119A) in Bihar, under the hybrid annuity mode (HAM).
3. Roadways Solution India bagged a Rs 682 crore contract for the four-laning of the Kolhapur-Sangli section of NH-166 from Sangli Phata (km 0.00) to Chokak (km 7.738) and Chokak (km 145.300) to Ankali (km 171.171) in Maharashtra, under HAM.
4. R & C Infraengineers was awarded a Rs 577 crore contract for the construction of a two-lane paved shoulder greenfield bypass connecting Lalganj Ajhara-Mohanganj and Raniganj on the Raebareli-Jaunpur section (design km 0.000 to 53.177) of NH-31 in Uttar Pradesh, also under HAM.
In addition to the NHAI mega contract, Afcons Infrastructure securing two contracts worth Rs 4,787.20 crore from the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) for the construction of access-controlled stretches of the Pune Ring Road (East) in Maharashtra, under the EPC mode. The first, Package PRR E5, spans 9.565 km from km 72.335 (Valati, Taluka Haveli) to km 81.900 (Sonori, Taluka Purandar), while the second, Package PRR E7, covers 6.240 km from km 97.900 (Garade, Taluka Purandar) to km 104.140 (Shiware, Taluka Bhor), both located in Pune district.
The Railways sector recorded a strong performance in Q1/FY26, with 48 new contracts finalised, collectively valued at Rs 16,872.25 crore.
Some of the key contracts awarded during the quarter include:
1. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC): Bagged a Rs 5,870-crore operation and maintenance (O&M) contract from the Chennai Metro Rail (CMRL). These include Chennai Metro Rail Phase II -Corridor-3 ((Madhavaram Milk Colony to Siruseri SIPCOT-II Metro), Corridor- 4 (Lighthouse to Poonamallee Bypass) and Corridor-5 (Madhavaram Milk Colony to Sholinganallur), including maintenance depots at Madhavaram, Poonamallee & Semmancheri.
2. Dineshchandra R. Agrawal Infracon in consortium with Siemens and Siemens Mobility GmbH): Awarded a Rs 4,140.06-crore contract by the National High Speed Rail Corporation(NHSRCL) for the design, manufacture, supply, installation, overall integration, testing & commissioning, and comprehensive maintenance of signaling & train control system, telecommunication system, and operation control centre system on Mumbai Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Project, under Package MAHSR-S-1..
3. Dilip Buildcon: Secured a Rs 1,341 crore contract from the Konkan Railway Corporation for the construction of a twin tube unidirectional tunnel (two-lanes in each traffic direction) in the Kozhikode and Wayanad districts of Kerala on engineering, procurement & construction (EPC) basis including four-lane approach road for direct connectivity Between Anakkampoyil-Kalladi-Meppadi from Km 0.460 to Km 8.735 (Project Length=8.275 km)-Package-II.
The Power Distribution sector witnessed robust activity in Q1/FY26, with the finalisation of 172 new contracts totaling Rs 15,979.39 crore. A standout contract, during the quarter was awarded to BSR Infratech India, which secured a Rs 1,082.44 crore deal from the Transmission Corporation of Andhra Pradesh. The turnkey project involves the supply, laying, testing, and commissioning of 220 kV, 1000 sq.mm XLPE underground copper cables along with associated accessories and services, including jointing, terminations, and site commissioning.
The project covers the diversion of multiple 220 kV circuits passing through the Seed Capital Region (from N10 to the end of CRDA limits) in Guntur district, Andhra Pradesh, including:
• 220 kV VTS- Podili DC line - 19 km
• 220 kV VTS- Tallapalli Circuits I & II - 11 km
• 220 kV VTS- Tallapalli Circuits III & IV - 11 km
• 220 kV VTS- Tadikonda Circuits I & II - 14 km
The other Community Services sector registered significant activity in Q1/FY26, with 369 new contracts finalised, collectively valued at Rs 11,356.42 crore.
A major contract secured by Larsen & Toubro (L&T), valued at Rs 2,198.43 crore, was awarded by the Central Public Works Department (CPWD). The project entails the construction of Common Central Secretariat Buildings 6 & 7 at Plot No. 22B & 22C, Maulana Azad Road, New Delhi.
The Water & Sewerage Pipeline & Distribution sector recorded significant activity in Q1/FY26, with 156 contracts finalised, amounting to a total value of Rs 10,383.36 crore.
Megha Engineering & Infrastructures secured two major contracts worth a combined Rs 2,290 crore from the Rural Water Supply & Sanitation Department, Andhra Pradesh. The contracts pertain to the drinking water supply projects in the coastal areas of East Godavari and West Godavari districts of Andhra Pradesh.
Another notable award in this sector was bagged by Larsen & Toubro (L&T), valued at Rs 1,092.22 crore, from the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), Rajasthan. The project involves providing functional household tap connections (FHTCs) under the Jal Jeevan Mission, covering 285 villages and two towns-Surajgarh and Udaipurwati. The scope includes design and construction on an a single point responsibility (SPR) basis, with a one-year defect liability period and 10 years of operation & maintenance (O&M). The project falls under Rajasthan Rural Water Supply and Fluorosis Mitigation Project Phase-II (Package-1).
The Telecom Services sector witnessed a good progress in Q1/FY26, with the finalisation of 18 new project contracts amounting to Rs 8,204.66 crore.
Key contracts awarded during the quarter include:
1. Polycab India secured a major contract worth Rs 4,099.69 crore from Bharat Sanchar Nigam (BSNL) for the design, supply, construction, installation, upgradation, operation, and maintenance of the middle-mile network of BharatNet in Karnataka, Goa, and Puducherry.
2. ITI, in consortium with Tera Software, was awarded a Rs 1,901.10 crore contract from BSNL for a similar scope of work covering Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, and Manipur (Package-15). The project, under the design, build, operate, and maintain (DBOM) model, aims to deliver services to 2,50,000 Gram Panchayats across India under the Digital Bharat Nidhi (DBN) initiative.
3. G R Infraprojects received a Rs 1,257.28 crore contract from BSNL for implementing the BharatNet middle-mile network in Kerala (Package-16), encompassing design to long-term operations and maintenance.
The Berths & Jetties sector saw the finalisation of five new project contracts in Q1/FY26, with a cumulative value of Rs 1,969.79 crore. A key highlight was a contract awarded to Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers, valued at Rs 489.98 crore, by the Geological Survey of India for the construction and delivery of two coastal research vessels.
In the Hospitals sector, 60 project contracts were awarded during the quarter. Among them, Shubham EPC secured a significant contract worth Rs 550.04 crore from the Nagpur Metropolitan Region Development Authority for the construction of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Super Specialty Hospital & Post Graduate Institute for Medical Sciences at Kh. No. 101, 102, and 103, Mz. - Indora, Nagpur, Maharashtra.
In Q1/FY26, the Electricity sector accounted for a significant 9.27 percent of the total project-related contracts awarded, with 80 contracts valued at Rs 16,808.38 crore. This surge reflects the governments ongoing commitment to bolstering power generation and distribution infrastructure across the country.
The Coal/Lignite-based Power segment emerged as a key contributor within the sector, witnessing the finalisation of 15 new contracts amounting to Rs 10,974.67 crore. The most prominent awards in this segment were:
1. Larsen & Toubro (L&T) bagged a Rs 16,343.72 crore contract from NTPC for the main plant package of Nabinagar Super Thermal Power Project (STPP) Stage-II (3x800 MW).
2. Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) secured a Rs 16,032.2 crore contract, also from NTPC, for the main plant package of Telangana STPP Stage-II (3x800 MW).
3. BHEL further bagged an EPC package worth Rs 13,300 crore from Damodar Valley Corporation for the 2x800 MW Koderma Thermal Power Station Phase-II project, located in Koderma district, Jharkhand.
The Solar-based Power sector continued its upward march in FY2025, with the finalisation of 252 new contracts totaling Rs 32,294.75 crore, highlighting the country’s ongoing transition towards clean and renewable energy sources.
A key highlight was the award of a major EPC contract to SEPC from Parmeshi Urja for the development of a 133 MW AC Solar Power Project, spread across 26 locations in four districts of Maharashtra.
Another significant contract was secured by Raminfo, valued at Rs 474 crore, from the Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation. The project involves the design, supply, erection, testing, and commissioning of Rooftop Solar (RTS) PV power projects, along with comprehensive operation and maintenance (O&M) for a period of 25 years. The installations will be located on state government-owned buildings and its undertakings across Rajasthan, with a total aggregate capacity of 73 MW, awarded under HAM.
The Hydel-based Power sector witnessed finalisation of nine contracts with a total value of Rs 1,790.9 crore. Patel Engineering secured a significant contract valued at Rs 711.29 crore from North Eastern Electric Power Corporation (NEEPCO) for the construction of the 240 MW HEO Hydropower Project located in Arunachal Pradesh under EPC basis.
The Wind-Based Power sector witnessed the finalisation of 12 new contracts worth Rs 1,470 crore in Q1/FY26, reflecting steady momentum in India’s transition towards renewable energy.
The most significant among these was awarded to NLC India, which secured a contract from NTPC for the development of a 450 MW ISTS-connected wind-solar hybrid power project. The project involves the generation and supply of hybrid power to NTPC for a period of 25 years under a power purchase agreement (PPA). The project will be spread across two locations-300 MW in Bikaner, Rajasthan, and 150 MW in Bhuj, Gujarat.
In the Manufacturing sector, 137 project contracts valued at Rs 13,844.28 crore were awarded. The sector accounted for 7.64 percent of the overall contracts finalised during the year.
Within this sector, the Railway Wagon & Equipment segment saw significant activity in Q1/FY26, with 20 project contracts finalised, amounting to a cumulative Rs 3,234.67 crore. A major highlight was a Rs 1,538.30 crore contract awarded to Alstom Transport India by Chennai Metro Rail (CMRL). The contract covers the design, manufacture, supply, testing, commissioning, and training of personnel, along with comprehensive maintenance for 15 years of 96 Metropolis metro cars (standard gauge electrical multiple units) for Phase-2 of the Chennai Metro project.
In the Aircraft segment, three contracts were finalised with a combined value of Rs 2,940.22 crore. Among the key awards, Bharat Electronics secured a contract from the Ministry of Defence for the supply of Electronic Warfare (EW) Suites for Mi-17 V5 helicopters of the Indian Air Force.
In Q1/FY26, the Mining sector accounted for 3.49 percent of total project-related orders, with 37 contracts being finalised, amounting to Rs 6,318.84 crore.
Within this sector, the Coal segment was a dominant contributor, with 26 contracts awarded primarily for mine development and operations, totaling Rs 6,245.63 crore. Key contracts awarded during the quarter include:
1. Caliber Mining & Logistics secured a Rs 1,461.12 crore mega contract from Northern Coalfields (NCL) for overburden excavation at the Dudhichua OCP in Madhya Pradesh. The work involves comprehensive mechanised operations such as blast hole drilling, excavation, loading, transportation, unloading, dozing, grading, and water sprinkling, using equipment like excavators, tippers, and graders.
2. DNC Infrastructure was awarded a Rs 1,294.89 crore contract by South Eastern Coalfields for composite mining operations at Kanchan OCM (Johilla Area). The contract includes overburden removal in different strata, coal extraction using surface miners, drilling and blasting, and coal transportation.
3. Chennai Radha Engineering Works bagged a Rs 999.76 crore contract from Northern Coalfields for handling, transport, and overburden removal services at the Bina Project of NCL.
4. Vinay Kumar Upadhyay received a Rs 712.40 crore contract from South Eastern Coalfields for composite mining services, including handling, transport, and overburden removal at the Saraipali OCP in Korba Area, Chhattisgarh.
In the Petroleum, Oil, and Gas sector, a total of nine project contracts were awarded during Q1/FY26. A notable contract in this segment was secured by Deep Industries from Oil India for the hiring of one mobile workover rig package, aimed at supporting oilfield maintenance and production operations.
In the Iron Ore sector, a single contract was finalised. Hindustan Zinc emerged as the preferred bidder for the grant of a composite license through e-auction conducted by the Ministry of Mines, Government of India. The license pertains to the Balepalyam Tungsten and Associated Mineral Block, covering an area of 308.30 hectares in Ananthapuram District, Andhra Pradesh.
In Q1/FY26, the Irrigation sector experienced significant momentum, with 113 contracts finalised, amounting to a total value of Rs 4,192.99 crore. This growth reflects the government's ongoing commitment to strengthening water resource infrastructure, aimed at boosting agricultural productivity and ensuring water security across various regions.
Some of the major contracts awarded in this sector include:
1. Patel Engineering secured a Rs 1,318.80 crore contract from the City & Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra for the construction of Kondhane Dam and allied works. The project, located at Village Kondhane, Taluka Karjat, District Raigad, Maharashtra, will employ roller-compacted concrete (RCC) technology.
2. EMS, in joint venture with NeerCare India, was awarded a Rs 781.97 crore contract by the Kolkata Municipal Corporation for pollution abatement work aimed at the rejuvenation of River Adi Ganga in Kolkata, West Bengal.
3. M. Venkata Rao Infra Projects bagged a Rs 480.65 crore contract from the Amaravati Development Corporation for the construction of (i) Kondaveeti Vagu (23.60 Km) (ii) Pala Vagu (16.70 Km) and (iii) Sakhamuru Reservoir (0.03 TMC) in Amaravati Capital City, Andhra Pradesh on lump sum contract, including DLP of two years (Package I) in Vijayanagaram district in Andhra Pradesh.
Top States
In Q1/FY26, Andhra Pradesh emerged as the top-performing state, finalising 112 project contracts valued at Rs 36,772.51 crore. Maharashtra ranked second with the highest number of contracts (329), amounting to Rs 20,430.27 crore. Tamil Nadu followed with 156 contracts, with a cumulative value of Rs 11,763.85 crore. Assam secured the fourth position, with contracts worth Rs 7,120.93 crore, while Rajasthan had to settle for the fifth rank, awarding 58 contracts totaling Rs 6,804.77 crore.
Top Contract Awarders & Awardees – Q1/FY26
Contract Awarders:
1. Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) topped the list of awarding agencies, finalising 27 contracts worth Rs 17,700.49 crore.
2. It was followed by the Amaravati Development Corporation, which awarded 38 contracts totaling Rs 11,417.95 crore.
3. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) secured third place, awarding 31 contracts with a cumulative value of Rs 8,856.66 crore.
Contract Awardees:
Out of 1,706 firms that collectively secured 2,290 project contracts during the quarter:
1. NBCC (India) emerged as the top awardee, bagging 22 contracts.
2. KEC International followed closely, securing 17 contracts, highlighting its continued strength across infrastructure segments.
Overseas Contracts
Indian companies continued to expand their global footprint in Q1/FY26, securing 17 overseas contracts across a range of sectors including Power Distribution, Roadways, Berths & Jetties, Petroleum, Oil & Gas, and Solar-based Power. These contracts, awarded in countries such as Saudi Arabia, Guyana, South Africa, and the USA, underscore India’s rising prominence and technical expertise in global infrastructure development.
Notable overseas contracts include:
1. KEC International secured a prestigious contract for the design, supply, and installation of 380 kV overhead transmission lines in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA).
2. Ashoka Buildcon was awarded a contract for the East Bank–East Coast Road Linkage Project Phase 2 (Eccles to Providence) in Guyana.
3. ITD Cementation India bagged a significant contract for jetty construction works for the Ruwais LNG Project in Abu Dhabi.
4. Larsen & Toubro (L&T) secured a contract to execute a set of 220kV and 132kV Gas Insulated Substations (GIS) on a turnkey basis, further cementing its leadership in global power infrastructure.
