The Mandale Depot for Mumbai Metro Line 2B, connecting DN Nagar to Mandale in Mankhurd, has been inaugurated, becoming Asia’s largest and the first elevated Metro depot.

Developed by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), the state-of-the-art facility spans 30.45 hectares and incorporates advanced, future-ready, and eco-friendly technologies. The two-level car shed can house 72 Metro trains—36 on each floor, enhancing operational efficiency for the upcoming line.

ccording to MMRDA, the depot will significantly improve the speed, reliability, and convenience of Metro Line 2B services, easing daily travel for commuters. The Andheri–Mandale route is crucial for linking Mumbai’s eastern and western corridors, helping reduce congestion and improving connectivity. With the Diamond Garden–Mandale segment already completed, citizens await the formal opening of this important stretch.
