The Central Government has given its in-principle approval to set up a natural gas-based fertiliser plant at Ramagundam in Karimnagar district, Andhra Pradesh.
The proposed project will be set up in a JV by three companies - National Fertilisers, Engineers India, and the Fertilizer Corporation of India (FCI), to produce 1,500 tonne of urea per day with a total investment of Rs 5,000 crore.
Chief Minister, N Kiran Kumar Reddy, recently requested the Centre to lay a natural gas pipeline from the Krishna-Godavari basin to Gujarat through Karimnagar, to ensure gas supplies to the proposed fertiliser plant.
