JWIL Infra along with Consortium partners Vishnusurya Projects and Infra, and IDE Technologies India has secured a contract worth Rs 2,217 crore from the State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu (SIPCOT) for the development of a 60 million litres per day (MLD) seawater desalination plant.
The project will be executed at Mullakadu village in Tuticorin district under the hybrid annuity model (HAM) on a public-private partnership (PPP) basis. "The contract period includes six months for conditions precedent, followed by 30 months for construction, and an operation & maintenance (O&M) phase with transfer for 15 years. The desalination plant is expected to play a critical role in addressing the region’s rising water demand, ensuring sustainable supply for industries and communities.
Located in an industrial hub, the facility will enhance water availability for SIPCOT’s industrial units while easing pressure on traditional freshwater sources. This contract further strengthens JWIL Infra’s position in the water infrastructure sector and aligns with Tamil Nadu’s broader initiatives to boost industrial growth through reliable water resources.
