The Orissa Government is expected to sign MoU with six Independent Power
Producers (IPPs) in April 2010.
The six new IPPs are BGR Energy Systems, J R Powergen, Jindal Stainless (JSL),
Adhunik Power and Natural Resources, Maa Durga Thermal Power and Bijaya Ferro
Power.

Powergen proposes to set up a 1,800 MW thermal power plant at Kishorenagar
near Angul at an outlay of Rs 7,988 crore. BGR Energy plans to set up a 1,320 MW
power plant at Bhapur in Nayagarh district entailing a cost of Rs 6,287 crore.
Adhunik plans to set up a 1,320 MW plant at Birmaharajpur in Sonepur
district. The project to cost Rs 4,000 crore is to come up over 1,000 acre.
Also, JSL has plans to set up a 1,320 MW thermal power plant at Luni in
Dhenkanal district at an investment of Rs 4,090 crore.
Maa Durga Thermal Power is likely to set up a 60 MW ((2x30 MW) power plant at
Tangi in Cuttack district at an investment of Rs 298.5 crore. Bijaya is to set
up a 120 MW power plant at Kesinga in Kalahandi district, at an investment of Rs
550 crore.
