The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has announced a major infrastructure initiative. The authority plans to construct a 50-km cement-concrete road parallel to Pune Metro Line 3, stretching from Maan in Hinjewadi to Shivajinagar.
This corridor, which will serve as a critical link between the city’s IT hub and central Pune, is expected to significantly improve travel efficiency and safety. The new road project aims to address frequent traffic congestion, poor surface quality, and drainage issues that have long plagued commuters along this route.
By opting for cement-concrete construction, PMRDA intends to ensure greater durability and reduced maintenance costs compared to conventional asphalt roads. The development aligns with ongoing Metro Line 3 construction, creating a more integrated urban transport network.
Once completed, the improved road will enhance last-mile connectivity, reduce vehicle wear and tear, and support economic activity in the Hinjewadi–Shivajinagar corridor. PMRDA is expected to coordinate with multiple agencies to ensure smooth execution and timely completion of the project.
