SRL, medical diagnostics firm, is planning to invest Rs 450 crore, to add more laboratories across India in 2014-15.
The company intends to open 45 laboratories in the country. Of the proposed laboratories, SRL will set up the largest laboratory in Gurgaon at an investment of Rs 350 crore.
The company is developing five laboratories in Gujarat. On completion of these five units, it will have 23 laboratories this year.
Besides, SRL is also in discussions with various state governments to replicate the public-private partnership (PPP) model under which it already operates 24 x 7 medical diagnostic laboratories in all 24 districts of Himachal Pradesh, under an agreement with the government of Himachal Pradesh.
The company has inked contracts to install similar facilities at five places in Nigeria, Congo, Kenya, and Uganda. As per the contract, the local investors will provide infrastructure to SRL, where it will set up and manage these centres, the first of which will become operative in August 2014.
At present, SRL operates 280 laboratories across India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Dubai.
