Water Resources Department (WRD), Bihar has floated a tender for the restoration and modernisation of the Jhanjharpur Branch Canal.
The scope of work includes the rehabilitation of the existing canal structure, including desilting, strengthening of canal banks, and upgrading of hydraulic infrastructure to improve water distribution and reduce losses, and will exend from 0.00 km to 42.06 km, under the Bihar Water Security and Irrigation Modernization Project (BWSIMP).
he estimated cost of the work is Rs 217.65 crore, and is scheduled for completion within 24 months from the date of commencement. The BWSIMP is a key component of Bihar’s long-term water management strategy, seeking to ensure sustainable agricultural growth, food security, and improved livelihoods for farmers through efficient irrigation systems.
The deadline for submission of bids is 25 August, 2025.
