Wipro Infrastructure Engineering (WIN), a division of Wipro Enterprises, has announced an investment of Rs 500 crore to establish India’s first copper-clad laminate (CCL) manufacturing facility in Karnataka.
This move is part of WIN’s newly launched business division, Wipro Electronic Materials, aimed at strengthening India’s electronics manufacturing sector and addressing critical supply chain gaps. The plant, expected to begin production in 2026, will manufacture over six million sheets of copper-clad laminates and prepreg materials annually. It is projected to generate employment for 350 people.
The facility will serve industries such as telecom, automotive, AI, and consumer electronics, reducing India’s dependence on imports, as currently 100 percent of CCLs are sourced from abroad. Pratik Kumar, CEO of WIN and MD of Wipro Enterprises, stated: “This highly advanced CCL facility reflects our strategic vision to build future-ready capabilities and enable India to play a larger role in the global electronics technology ecosystem.” The initiative received timely support from the Government of Karnataka and MeitY, positioning Wipro as a key global supplier in advanced electronics materials.
