Wal-Mart is planning to open 50 cash-and-carry or wholesale outlets across India over the next four to five years.
The company already has 20 cash-and-carry stores in India. Its last store opening was in Bhopal at the end of 2012.
Wal-Mart will also initiate its Indian e-commerce business soon. To begin with, the company will get into B2B e-commerce, catering to food grain stores through cash-and- carry outlets. The pilot for the first one will start in the next month.
In January 2014, Wal-Mart had established a new company, 'Wal-Mart India Private Ltd', in India, to enter the country's multi-brand retail market with a new partner.
