to venture in Bangladesh tyre market

In early February 2012, CEAT, announced its plans to foray in Bangladesh. The company intends to set up a tyre manufacturing plant in Bangladesh at an investment of Rs 250 crore by 2015. "Our board has approved to set up a plant in Bangladesh. This would be the company's first plant in Bangladesh, where it was already exporting tyres from India. This will be the first such big tyre plant in Bangladesh," Paras Chowdhary, Managing Director, CEAT.

The facility will initially roll out only cross-ply tyres for various segments like trucks and light commercial segments. Currently, the company is scouting for land to set up the manufacturing facility. Bangladesh is the CEAT's second overseas manufacturing location; the company currently operates three plants in Sri Lanka through its CEAT Kelani Holding JV alongside its three Indian facilities.
