Chemicals (incl rubber, fertilisers)
Larsen & Toubro has secured a Rs.77 crore contract, which is part of the Trombay Methanol Revamp project, of Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers Ltd.'s (RCF) methanol reformer package. The package is meant to enhance the overall energy efficiency, reliability and life of the methanol plant, and increase the capacity of methanol, from the present 180 tpd to 220 tpd. M/s. Haldor Topsoe A/S of Denmark is the process licensor and Projects & Development India Ltd. (PDIL), is the project consultant.
The contract includes detailed engineering, procurement, supply, transportation, storage, fabrication, inspection, construction, installation, testing, mechanical completion and assistance for pre-commissioning, commissioning and performance guarantee test runs.
Metallurgy
Larsen & Toubro (L&T) in consortium with Paul Wurth, Italy, bagged a Rs.1,205 crore order from Bhushan Steel, for turnkey construction of a 2.5 mln tpa blast furnace, for its integrated steel plant at Meramandali in Orissa. L&T's share in the project is pegged at Rs.760.5 crore. Paul Wurth's scope covers basic engineering, supply of proprietary & special equipment, and technical supervisory services, while L&T will provide detailed engineering, supply indigenous mechanical, electrical and instrumentation works including complete site services with civil structural and erection works.
The turnkey project is to be completed within 28 months starting from December 2007.
Hindustan Dorr Oliver bagged a Rs.77 crore order from National Aluminium Co. for design, residual basic engineering, detailed engineering, procurement, erection, construction and commissioning of HRDs & DCWs, including a flocculant preparation unit and a cauticisation unit, along with associated facilities and auxiliaries'; for its alumina refinery at Damanjodi in Orissa.
The consortium of Larsen & Toubro and Outotec GmbH of Germany has bagged a Rs.762 crore order from Steel Authority of India (SAIL), for a 3.80 mln tpa sinter plant of 2 X 204 sq.m grate area. The plant will be executed on turnkey basis at SAIL's IISCO Steel Plant (ISP) in West Bengal, within 29 months. The plant is part of SAIL's programme to expand capacity of crude steel at ISP, by 2.5 mln tpa. Outotec's scope of work covers basic engineering, supply of proprietary & special equipment, and technical services, while L&T will handle the detailed engineering, supply indigenous mechanical, electrical and instrumentation works, and provide complete site services including civil, structural and erection works.
McNally Bharat Engineering Co. received a Rs.258.68 crore order from Steel Authority of India for setting up a by-product plant for the IISCO Steel Plant at Burnpur.
Nagarjuna Construction Co. in consortium with Posco E&C of South Korea, bagged a Rs.1,558 crore EPC contract from Steel Authority of India, to set up a blast furnace complex at its IISCO Steel Plant at Burnpur in West Bengal. The order is to be completed within 30 months.
Mineral Fuels
Sadbhav Engineering bagged a Rs.245.24 crore order from Northen Coalfields, for the removal of over burden, from the first dig (solid), by hiring HEMM such as excavators, dumpers, drills, dozers, graders and water tankers, for composite work. The work includes blast hole drilling, blasting, excavation, loading, transport of broken rocks/soil/earth, dumping, spreading etc., at Bina extension open cast project.
Petroleum Products
Naftogaz India, a subsidiary of NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine, bagged two contracts worth Rs.831 crore from Bharat Oman Refineries, on EPC basis, for the Bina refinery project in Madhya Pradesh. These include:

The hydrogen generation unit is scheduled for completion within 27 months, and the coke drum system will be complete within 28 months.
Essar Constructions (India) (ECIL), a subsidiary of Essar Projects, has secured a Rs.186 crore contract from Bharat Oman Refineries for laying a 24 inch crude oil pipeline across 504 km out of the total 930 km, for the Bina refinery in Sagar, Madhya Pradesh.
ECIL will execute the longest section comprising three stretches of total 504 km - from Vadinar to the Gujarat-Madhya Pradesh border. The scope of work includes residual engineering, laying the pipeline, building a dispatch terminal, intermediate pumping stations and sectionalising valve stations.
The 930 km pipeline will stretch from Vadinar in Gujarat to Bina in Madhya Pradesh, where BORL, a JV of Bharat Petroleum Corporation and Oman Oil Corporation, is setting up a refinery.
Larsen & Toubro secured two major contracts, valued at Rs.267 crore. The orders have been won against stiff international competition and will be executed by the L&T's Heavy Engineering Division (HED). The contracts were awarded by:

Indian Oil Corporation for foster wheeler designed coke drums, for the residual upgradation & MS/HSD improvement project in Gujarat.

Liaoning Huajin Chemical Corporation, China, for Huajin's 2 lakh tpa ethylene oxide/ethylene glycol project, for design, manufacture and supply of two ethylene oxide reactors, involving duplex stainless steel special tubes and ethylene oxide reactors, which are extremely critical equipments for such units in a petrochemical plant.

Electricity
Era Infra Engineering (EIEL) bagged a Rs.285 crore order from Aravali Power Company (a JV between NTPC, Haryana Power Generation Corporation & Indraprastha Power Generation Co.), to construct a main plant and FOR THE offsite civil works package, for the 1,500 MW (3x500 MW) Aravali coal based power project, in Jhajjar, Haryana. The works of the package are scheduled to complete within 48 months.
Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) bagged an order from Bharatiya Nabhikiya Vidyut Nigam for turbine generator and secondary side equipment, for the first prototype fast breeder reactor (PFBR) of 500 MWe at Kalpakkam in Tamil Nadu. The unit is scheduled for commissioning by 2012.
Diamond Power Transformers (Western Transformers), a subsidiary of Diamond Cables, bagged orders for 2,750 transformers, out of which 1,350 transformers are for 63 KVA, and 1,400 transformers for 16 KVA and 10 KVA.
RTS Power Corporation bagged a Rs.35 crore order to supply transformers, conductors and cables to power utilities.
Adani Power (APL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Adani Enterprises has awarded a turnkey contract to Shandong Electric Power Corporation (SEPCO III) of China, to set up the second phase of the 2,640 MW coal based power plant at Mundra. The second phase will include a 2 X 660 MW (1,320 MW) plant, and APL has entered into an EPC (engineering procurement and construction) contract with SEPCO in early September 2007. The project is scheduled for completion by 2011.
KLG Systel bagged orders worth over Rs.25 crore from Government of Haryana, to implement a high voltage distribution system in Gurgaon. It also won an order and from Government of Rajasthan to cover the modification and renovation of its consumer electricity network.
McNally Bharat Engineering Co. received a Rs.13.80 crore order from NTPC, to supply dry fly ash extraction and collection system, for its Rihand power project at Sonbhadra in Uttar Pradesh.
Roadways
Nagarjuna Construction Co. bagged two orders worth Rs.150 crore from Karnataka Road Development Corporation, for construction of Phase IV bridges in Karnataka. [contract value: Rs.109 crore] and from Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation to construct a water treatment plant. [contract value: Rs.32 crore]
Sadbhav Engineering bagged a Rs.196.5 crore order from Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation, for executing Package I of the Shivpuri- Sheopur-Rajasthan Border (SH-06) road project. [contract value: Rs.114.7 crore], and for executing Package II of the Seoni-Chiraidongri (SH-11A) Rajasthan Border (SH-06) road project [contract value: Rs.81.8 crore]
MSK Projects India received a Rs.76.45 crore order from Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation for executing Package-7 of the Khandwa- Khargone (SH-26) road project.
Gayatri Projects bagged a Rs.154.01 crore order for rehabilitation and upgradation of KM.143.600 to KM.170.000, of NH-25 in Uttar Pradesh - Package EW-II (UP-4).
Gayatri Projects bagged a Rs.311.89 crore order from Executive Engineer of the Keonjhar (R&B) Division in Orissa for improving the Naranpur- Pandapada-Harichandanpur-Bramhanipal-Duburi road in the Keonjhar and Jajpur districts of Orissa. Work is scheduled for completion within three years.
Railways (Urban Transportation)
Alpine Mayreder Bau Gmbh (Alphine) along with Samsung Corporation and Hindustan Construction Co., (Alpine-Samsung-HCC JV) bagged a Rs.693.61 crore contract from Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, to design and construct two underground stations and a tunnel between New Delhi station and Talkatora Garden. HCC's share in the contract is 33 per cent (Rs.255.63 crore).
Delhi Metro Railway Corporation awarded a Rs.64 crore contract to Japanbased Nippon Steel, for providing 19,600 tonne of high-grade rails, for its Delhi Metro Rail Project (Phase II).

Unity Infraprojects bagged two orders worth Rs.134.15 crore from Anuttam Developers, to construct a shopping centre at Koregaon Park in Pune. The park is to be completed within 17 months [contract value: Rs.112.40 crore]. Another contract is from Serendipity Buildtech of New Delhi to construct a mega mall at Thane [contract value: Rs.21.75 crore].

Irrigation
Kirloskar Brothers (KBL) in a JV with IVRCL and Megha Engineering & Infrastructures, bagged a Rs.761.24 crore order from Government of Andhra Pradesh, Irrigation & CAD Department, for the Hindri Niva Sujala Sravanthi (HNSS) project main canal for stage II of Phase I, on EPC turnkey basis.
The scope of work includes investigation, design, manufacture, supply of pumps, motors and pressure mains at site, including erection, commissioning and testing eight each of hydro mechanical and electro mechanical, along witg other accessories at each pumping station, maintaining 12 pumps at each pumping station and the system for 15 years. KBL's share in the contract is worth Rs.114.16 crore.
KBL has received an additional Rs.145.84 crore order from Megha Engineering & Infrastructures, to supply pumps and a pumping system in respect of the aforesaid project.
Kirloskar Brothers in a JV with PLR, bagged a Rs.118.27 crore order from the Government of Andhra Pradesh, Irrigation & CAD Department, for the Telugu Ganga Project, Kadapa related to investigation, design and construction of micro-irrigation lift system comprising of civil, steel pressure mains, pump houses, electro mechanical works and other necessary ancillary works, to supply water by lift from the foreshore to reservoirs and providing a distributory system for 8,750 acres of ayacut in Anantapaur district, on EPC turnkey basis.
Overseas Order
Metallurgy
PSL bagged a $17 million order from Fusion Provida of England, to supply to Cameg SPA, Algeria, 1,24,000 meter of three 20"x9.5 API 5Lx60 sized LPE coated line pipes.
Electricity
KEC International won an Asian Development Bank funded contract from Afghanistan's Ministry of Energy & Water, in an international competitive bidding. Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL) is appointed as the project consultant.
To be executed in the North and Eastern regions of Afghanistan and completed within 18 months, the work involves turnkey construction of 2x110 kV transmission lines totaling over l00 km, four sub-stations and eight power distribution systems of 20 kV each.
