Domestic Order
Metallurgy
Larsen & Toubro (L&T) in consortium with Paul Wurth bagged a Rs.580.74
crore order from Steel Authority of India, to up grade its blast furnace (No 2)
at Bokaro Steel Plant, on a turnkey basis. Paul Wurth's scope of work
includes basic engineering, supply of proprietary & special equipment along
with technical service, while L&T would undertake detail engineering,
supply of indigenous mechanical, electrical equipment and instrumentation
works, along with complete site services including civil, structural and
erection works. L&T's share in the project is valued at Rs.355.02 crore. The
project is scheduled for completion within 21 months.
Siemens bagged a Rs.87 crore order from McNally Bharat Engineers, to
supply electrical equipment for Rashtriya Ispat Nigam's new sinter plant at
Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh. The sinter plant will be commissioned
by August 2009.
Mineral Fuels
Asian Oilfield Services bagged a Rs.71.86 crore order from Oil India
Corporation, to acquire 2D seismic data in Mizoram. The order is to be
completed within 14 operative months, effective from the date of
mobilisation.
Petroleum Products
Hindustan Dorr Oliver bagged a Rs.111.50 crore order from Hindustan
Petroleum Corporation, for design, supply, engineering and construction of
an integrated effluent treatment plant at its Mumbai refinery. The order is
scheduled for completion within 18 months.
Electricity
RTS Power Corporation bagged orders valuing to a total of Rs.52.6 crore,
which collectively include supplying 4,735 transformers and 1621.6 km of
cables. Amongst these, is a Rs.24 crore order received from Kalpataru Power
Transmission to supply part of the transformers.
Lanco Infratech received five letters of acceptance (LoA) from Central Power
Distribution Co. of Andhra Pradesh, to supply and erect 33/11 kV substations
and 33/11 kV lines in Mahaboobnagar, Kurnool, Nalgonda, Medak
and Ananthapur districts of Andhra Pradesh. The order is valued at Rs.67.24
crore.
XL Telecom & Energy bagged orders worth Rs.65.8 crore to export solar
panels to EU nations.
Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) bagged a Rs.2,108 crore order from
Maithon Power - a JV company of Tata Power and Damodar Valley
Corporation (DVC). The order is for supplying and installing steam
generators and steam turbine package at BHEL's 2x525 MW Maithon Right Bank Thermal Power project in Jharkhand. BHEL's scope of work includes
design, engineering, manufacture, supply, erection and commissioning the
steam generators, turbine generators, electrostatic precipitators and
associated auxiliaries, besides state-of-the-art controls and instrumentation
(C&I) works.
Roadways
Simplex Infrastructures bagged two contracts worth Rs.680.00 crore. One is
for the design and construction of the Eastern Freeway stretching from the
Museum to Anil Panjarapole Link Road, while the other involves design and
construction of a flyover on Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Road, under Package
II.
Sadbhav Engineering bagged orders worth Rs.99.01 crore from
Chhattisgarh government for the following projects:

- For rehabilitating and upgrading the Abhanpur (KM 27)-Rajim (KM 45) -
Gariyaband (KM 90.22) Section of SH 2B, under the Chhattisgarh State
Road Sector Development project. (Phase-II Roads, contract package
No.7) [contract value: Rs.58.39 crore]
- For rehabilitating and upgrading Rajim (KM 0) to Mahasamund (KM
39.12) Section of MDR, under Chhattisgarh State Road Sector
Development project. (Phase-II Roads, contract package No.8) [contract
value: Rs.40.62 crore]

Valecha Engineering bagged orders worth Rs.100.00 crore to undertake
additional works at the Integrated Road Development Project (IRDP) at
Pune, and also at the Udaipur Tunnel Project at Udaipur.
Railways (Urban Transportation)
Larsen & Toubro (L&T) in a 51:49 JV with Shanghai Urban Construction
(Group) Corporation has secured a Rs.275 crore order from Delhi Metro
Railway Corporation to construct a 2.4 km (1.6 km and 0.8km) underground
twin tunnel. The tunnel would begin from the IGI Airport Station to Dwarka
Sector-21 in Delhi Metro (Phase II) project's airport metro express line.
Shipping Infrastructure
On 22 November 2007, DP World Cochin (India Gateway Terminal Pvt.
Ltd.) awarded Simplex Infrastructure the $150 million (around Rs.592.5
crore) civil construction contract, for Phase I of the International Container
Transshipment Terminal (ICTT) at Vallarpadam in Kerala.
Construction work is expected to begin by December 2007. Phase I involves
building a 600m quay, an on-dock railhead serviced by rail-mounted gantry
cranes, 30 ha of yard, and acquisition of six Super Super Post Panamax
cranes designed to handle some of the largest vessels. Phase I of the terminal
when complete by March 2009, will have a capacity to handle 1million TEU
Aviation Infrastructure
Mumbai International Airport, an associate company of GVK Power &
Infrastructure has signed EPC agreement worth Rs.5,500 crore with L&T for
designing, construction and procurement for the expansion and
modernisation of Chatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA).
The Karnataka government has selected the consortium of Maytas
Infrastructure, Nagarjuna Construction Co. and Vienna International
Airport to develop and operate the Gulbarga and Shimoga airport on a
build-operate-transfer (BOT) model for 30 years. Each airport will have one
runway. The 550 acres of land required for the Gulbarga airport and 660
acres required for the Shimoga airport have already been acquired by the
government. In order to take over the land from the government, the
consortium has to pay around Rs.2.2 crore to the state. The consortium is
allowed to develop a star hotel, shopping malls and a flying school within
the project site.
Pratibha Industries in JV with Pratibha Pipes & Structurals bagged a
Rs.41.35 crore order from Delhi International Airport, for construction/
expansion of the domestic arrival terminal at the Indira Gandhi International
Airport, New Delhi. The order is scheduled for completion within five
months.
Real Estate
Pratibha Industries bagged a Rs.58.92 crore contract from Vijay Associates
(Wadhwa) Constructions, to construct a residential complex including four
high-rise towers, each of 49 floors. The project is scheduled for completion
within 33 months.
Commercial Complex
IVRCL Infrastructures & Projects bagged orders worth Rs.329.32 crore from
the following:

- Naya Raipur Development Authority (NRDA) awarded a contract for
constructing a state secretarial building and maintaining it during its
defect liability period. [contract value: Rs.179.12 crore]
- Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation awarded a contract to
construct 1,456 tenements at the P+7 building in Milind Nagar. [contract
value: Rs.53.83 crore]. It also awarded another contract to construct 2320
tenements in G + 4 Building at Sector 22 'E'. [contract value: Rs.71.13
crore]
- Tamilnadu Water Supply & Drainage Board awarded a contract to
construct a sewerage scheme that would lead to the Thiruvarur
Municipality within Zones I to V (Packages I and II). [contract value;
Rs.25.24 crore]

Hospitals
Lanco Infratech received a letter of acceptance (LoA) from Andhra Pradesh
Health & Medical Housing & Infrastructure Development Corporation
(APHMHIDC), to construct a medical college, a hospital complex, hostels,
and ancillary structures for RIMS at Srikakulam in Andhra Pradesh. The
contract is valued at Rs.73.18 crore.
Era Constructions India bagged a Rs.61.18 crore order from Hindustan
Latex on behalf of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, to set up a super
specialty block and trauma care centre, at Government Mohan
Kumaramangalam Medical College, Salem, Tamil Nadu . The work order is
scheduled for completion within 15 months.
Water & Waste Management
Jaihind Projects bagged a Rs.14.85 crore order from Maharashtra Natural
Gas, for CNG and city gas distribution in Pune.
Subhash Projects & Marketing bagged two orders:

- PHED, Jaipur, awarded a Rs.52.06 crore contract for the Bisalpur Jaipur
Water Supply Project. The scope of work includes design, supply,
erection and testing pumping stations at Jaipur, including all civil,
mechanical, electrical and instrumentation works, along with operation &
maintenance of all three pumping stations, for two years. The order is
scheduled for completion within 16 months
- Subhash Projects in consortium with UPL and Hydro Comp Enterprises,
Cyprus has been awarded the management contract by Maharashtra
Jeevan Pradhikaran Division 2, Latur to operate, maintain and repair the
Latur water supply scheme, including metering, billing and collection for
water charges, etc

Pratibha Industries secured a Rs.70.70 crore contract from Municipal
Corporation of Greater Mumbai, for a storm water pumping station at Irla,
Andheri West, Mumbai.
For this, it has formed a JV with Grundfos Pumps, Chennai and Korea-based
Keum Jung Industrial Co. The JV would undertake design and construction
of the storm water pumping station, supply, delivery, erection and
commissioning of the mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and
automation works, along with comprehensive operation and maintenance of
pumping plant. The order is to be executed within 12 months.
Miscellaneous
Pratibha Industries bagged a Rs.49.49 crore contract from Jammu &
Kashmir Economic Reconstruction Agency, to replace the existing rising
mains and lay new rising mains and gravity mains within the Jammu city.
The project is to be completed within 18 months.
Supreme Infrastructure India bagged a Rs.113.23 crore order from Thane
Municipal Corporation to construct and strengthen Nalla No 1 (Part), 3W,
7,1,11, 12 and sub-nallas under the integrated nalla development project.
Kone has received a major order from Indiabulls Properties, to design,
supply and install 40 elevators at the Jupiter Mills high-end commercial
development area in South Mumbai. Ten of the installed elevators will be
customised glass elevators. The installation of the equipment is expected to
begin by December 2007 and is scheduled for completion by June 2008.
Architect Hafeez Contractor, has designed two towers for the project.
Overseas Order
Chemicals (incl rubber, fertilisers)
Sembawang Engineers & Constructors Pte, a wholly owned subsidiary of
Punj Lloyd, bagged a Rs.1,770 crore turnkey contract from Jurong Aromatics
Corporation, for engineering, procurement and construction work at the new mega aromatics plant on Jurong Island, Singapore. Sembawang E&C
will undertake engineering, procurement and construction of all ancillary
facilities, including the intermediary and finished product tenkage, receiving
and exporting jetties, power and steam co-generation plant, waste water
treatment unit and other utilities & infrastructure, which are necessary to
support the main conversion units.
Electricity
Suzlon Energy Australia Pty, Australia, the step-down wholly owned
subsidiary of Suzlon Energy bagged orders from Sydney's Renewable Power
Ventures (RPV), to deliver 63 units of Suzlon S88-2.1 MW wind turbines,
translating into a total capacity of 132 MW. The wind farm project, for which
the turbines would be supplied, is scheduled for completion in the first half
of 2009.
KEC International (KEC) bagged two orders, one each in Abu Dhabi and
Algeria, through an international competitive bidding process. The orders
were received from the following:

- Abu Dhabi Transmission & Despatch Co. (TRANSCO) awarded the
contract for supplying 400 kV double circuit and quad circuit
transmission lines of 173 km length, connecting the Fujairah sub-station to
the Sweihan sub-station. The order is scheduled for completion within 24
months. [contract value: Rs.391 crore]
- Sonelgaz awarded the contract for a 400 kV single circuit transmission
line to be laid from Cheffia to Ain Bedia and from R. Djamel to
Djendouba. The order is scheduled for completion within15 months.
