Here is a summary of major domestic and overseas orders bagged by Indian companies in
April 2007. Information has been organised by major sectors to facilitate reference. This
section also includes projects awarded to private sector companies for implementation on
BOT/BOOT method.
Petroleum Products
Petron Engineering Construction bagged an order worth Rs.19 crore from
Reliance Petroleum, for mechanical works of its polypropylene plant, at
Jamnagar refinery complex.
Deep Industries obtained letter of award (LoA) from Oil & Natural Gas
Corporation (ONGC) for service contract, to develop three onshore marginal
fields (Ghotaru, Kharatar & Bankia gas fields) in Rajasthan. The details of the
marginal fields are: table
Deep Drilling 1 Pte, a subsidiary of Aban Offshore received a letter of award
(LoA) from Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation, for charter hire of the Rig
Deep Driller 1, for a firm period of two years with two options of six months
each, and thereafter at mutually agreeable rates. The contract to be
performed in continuation of the contract with Hardy Oil is expected to
result in revenues of approximately $141 million, during the firm period.
Oil & Gas Pipelines
Punj Lloyd bagged an order worth Rs.180.16 crore from Reliance Gas
Transportation Infrastructure, for construction of 48"x122 km pipeline, of
East West Gas pipeline and its associated facilities.
PSL bagged orders worth Rs.1,045 crore collectively, for onshore gas
pipeline projects to supply pipes for Gujarat State Petronet's Gas Grid, along
with export orders from Iran and Malaysia [contract value: Rs.700 crore]. The
offshore pipeline related service project orders have been received from
Allseas and NPCC (two leading turnkey offshore construction companies
operating in the region) [contract value: Rs.175 crore] and few miscellaneous
orders for supply of equipment and pipe exports [contract value: Rs.170
crore]
Electricity
ICSA India bagged an order worth Rs.23.17 crore from Eastern Power
Distribution Co. of Andhra Pradesh, for erection of 19 nos new 33/11 kV
sub-stations in West Godavari district.
Subhash Projects & Marketing bagged orders collectively worth Rs.309
crore, for execution of power projects. These include: Rs.220 crore to be
executed for Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation and Hubli
Electricity Supply Co in Karnataka. The scope of work includes upgradation
of existing sub-stations, construction of 220/110/66 kV sub-stations and
transmission lines and secondly, Rs.89 crore for Power Grid Corporation of
India in Bihar on turnkey basis. The scope of work involves construction of
new underground cabling, as well as revamp of existing lines under the
APDRP Phase II. Work on both the projects is scheduled for completion
within 6-18 months.
Suzlon Wind Energy Corporation, USA a wholly-owned subsidiary of
Suzlon Energy, has signed a contract with Tierra Energy of Austin, Texas,
USA, to provide 42 units of S88-2.1 MW wind turbine generators, which will
be delivered by 2008.
Era Constructions (India) recently won an order from NTPC, for the
construction of civil works for Dadri thermal power project, for generation
of 980 MW (2x490 MW) thermal power, for supply to Delhi and its
neighbouring areas. The contract value is Rs.188.9 crore, excluding the cost
of cement and steel.
The scope of work includes civil works for main power house housing turbo
generator (TG) / boiler / CW, mill and bunker, including off site works and
other ancillary works necessary for making the power house functional. The
power plant consists of two units of 2X490 MW each, and is expected to be
completed within 43 months from the date of award of contract.
RTS Power Corporation announced winning new orders worth Rs.12.69
crore, for supply of transformers from Jharkhand State Electricity Board, for
use in rural electrification projects.
Petron Engineering Construction received the letter of award (LoA) from
Sichuan Fortune Project Management Co. Ltd, China for erection work for
two 330 MW power plants of Adani Power Project Ltd; at Mundra, Gujarat,
for a total estimated contract value of Rs.37.76 crore.
IMP Powers received an order worth Rs.20 crore, for supply of power and
distribution transformers to GETCO.
Railways (Urban Transportation)
Parsvnath Developers bagged an order worth Rs.160 crore from Delhi
Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), to develop an integrated shopping mall
and a metro station, at the Games Village complex. The facilities are to be
developed in an approximate area of 3,65,000 sq.ft. The concession period for
the same is 30 years, on BOT basis.
Parsvnath Developers has entered into concession agreements, to develop
shopping malls on 11 stations owned by the Delhi Metro Railway
Corporation (DMRC) on a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) basis. Of these, five
have already been executed. These include Parsvnath Metro Mall at Metro
Stations at Shahdara, Pratap Nagar, Inderlok, Seelampur and Tis Hazari.
Work on the project is scheduled for completion by mid 2010, prior to the
commencement of the Commonwealth Games.
Valecha Engineering recently bagged new projects worth Rs.100 crore,
which include road works at New Delhi, Punjab, and Arunachal Pradesh
and Diaphragm Wall works, for Delhi Metro Rail Corporation. These orders
have taken the company's order book to around Rs.1,000 crore. Most of the
orders are executable within 18 to 24 months.
Tantia Construction bagged orders worth Rs.151 crore, for infrastructure
projects in road and rail sectors. The road projects, worth Rs.113 crore,
include development of state highway in Bihar, besides construction of a
flyover in Patna for the East Central Railway and two bridges for the Eastern
Railway, estimated at Rs.38 crore.
Water & Waste Management
Atlanta bagged an order worth Rs.15.7 crore for the work of water supply,
Vena project near Nagpur which is scheduled for completion within four
months.
Lanco Infratech bagged orders for three construction projects valued at
Rs.102 crore, from Karnataka and Tamil Nadu governments. The scope of
projects include:

- Upgradation of public health centres to community health centres and
taluk level hospitals, for the Karnataka Health Systems Development and
Reforms Project.
- Construction of institutional buildings for Government Medical College
at Belgaum, for the Public Works Department, Karnataka.
- Supplying and laying a 600mm dia water supply DI, for Chennai Metro
Water Supply and Sewerage Board, Chennai.
With this, the order books of Lanco Infratech's construction and EPC
division increased to more than Rs.5,000 crore.

Irrigation
Madhucon Projects in JV with Sinohydro, bagged an order worth Rs.134
crore from Irrigation & CAD Departmant, Government of Andhra Pradesh,
for irrigation project of GNSS main canal, in Kadapa district of Andhra
Pradesh. The scope of work involves investigation, designs and earth work,
excavation GNSS main canal from KM 141.350 to KM 161.350 including
construction of CM & CD works.
Kirloskar Brothers received an order worth Rs.255 crore from IVRCL in a JV
with Navayuga & SEW, for Irrigation & CAD Departmant, Government of
Andhra Pradesh, for survey, design, model study, manufacturing,
supply, erection, testing, commissioning, operation and maintenance of
complete electro-mechanical works, for Sripada Sagar project (Stage-II)
Phase-I.
Kirloskar Brothers in a JV received an extension order valued at Rs.336.22
crore, from Irrigation and CAD Department, Government of Andhra
Pradesh, to increase the capacity of the Gandikota Lift Irrigation Scheme
from 4 tmc to 6 tmc, with an additional command area of 88,465 acres.
Vadodara-based Jyoti Ltd bagged an order worth Rs.56 crore from IVRCL
Infrastructure for design, manufacture and supply of 25 large pumps, in
Kurnool and Anantapur districts of Andhra Pradesh.
Miscellaneous
Welspun Gujarat Stahl Rohren announced new orders bagged worth
Rs.1,089 crore, for the supply of pipelines (both H-SAW and I-SAW) for
domestic and international clients. The company's current pending order
book position stands at around Rs.4,000 crore including orders executed in
the last quarter of fiscal year 2006-07.
Oil & Gas Pipelines
Punj Lloyd won a contract valued at $44.90 million (Rs.202 crore) from USbased
Ras Laffan Olefins Company, for the construction of Dense Phase
Ethylene and Butene Pipelines, between Ras Laffan Mesaieed Industrial
cities, in Qatar.
The company also won a Rs.530 crore order, for the supply and construction of a pipeline in Oman. The order involves laying a 24-in dia 40-km pipeline,
from Murayat to Barka, and another 252-km one from Saih Rawl to
Mukhaizna. The project is scheduled for completion by October 2008.
Real Estate
Larsen & Toubro (L&T) bagged an order worth Rs.200 crore from Nakheel,
UAE, to develop a residential project in Dubai. The project located at the
Jumeirah Islands, involves construction of 31 luxury villas, associated
infrastructure facilities like a club house with recreational facilities, a play
area for children, 1000m of roads and services, a pedestrian overpass, and
complete landscaping. The entire project construction is scheduled for
completion within 18 months, from the date of commencement.
Water & Waste Management
Kirloskar Brothers secured an export contract worth $10.48 million from
National Water Commission, Jamaica, for supply of centrifugal pump sets
with allied accessories and equipment, for water supply, for the Jamaica
Water System Rehabilitation and Extension Project.
