Non-metallic Mineral Products
Petron Engineering Construction received a letter of intent from Madras Cements, for mechanical fabrication and erection works of their 3,800 tpd cement project at Ariyalur in Tamil Nadu. The contract is valued at Rs.23.57 crore.
Metallurgy
Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) in consortium with MAN Turbo, Germany bagged a Rs.106 crore order from Rashtriya Ispat Nigam (RINL) for supply of turbo blower package to be installed at RINL's Vizag steel expansion project.
MAN Turbo, Germany will supply the blower. BHEL's scope of work in the project envisages manufacture and supply of a 45 MW steam turbine with associated auxiliaries and balance of plant, in addition to site erection and commissioning of the complete turbo blower package. The proposed package will help raise the plant capacity to 6.3 million tpa. The contract will be executed within 28 months.
Hindustan Construction Co., (HCC) bagged a Rs.167.76 crore contract from Tata Steel to execute civil work for its 6 million tpa integrated steel plant (Phase I) at Kalinganagar in Orissa.
HCC is planning to commence site mobilisation for the project in line with requirements of Tata Steel. It will aggressively pursue additional contracts for the next phase including structural work for this project. According to a company statement, HCC is also pursuing civil and structural works for Tata Steel's upcoming integrated steel projects in Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh, as well as expansion projects at Tata Steel's Jamshedpur Plant.
Sandvik Asia, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Swedish Sandvik Group bagged contracts worth Rs.143 crore from National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) and Mormugao Port Trust.
NMDC is setting up a 7 million tpa iron ore plant and conveyor system for iron ore transportation at Kirandul, Dantewada district in Chhattisgarh. It has awarded the Rs.116 crore contract to Sandvik Asia for design, engineering, manufacture, supply, construction, erection, testing, commissioning and performance testing the system. The scope of work also includes technological equipment, civil, structural and electrical works and service facilities like cranes, hoists, water supply and dust suppression facilities, on a turnkey basis.
Sandvik Asia also bagged a Rs.27 crore contract from Mormugao Port Trust for design, manufacture and supply of bulk handling machines meant to handle iron ore.
Mineral Fuels
Larsen & Toubro bagged a turnkey order worth Rs.877 crore from Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), for the NQ Re-construction (NQRC) Project in Mumbai High North fields.
The project comprises of re-construction of offshore facilities at the NQ Complex, including replacement of the existing booster compressor with a new process gas compressor module, revamping produced water conditioning system, hot oil system, gas dehydration unit and other utilities. The turbo-machinery for the process gas compressor module will be supplied by Kawasaki Heavy Industries (KHI), Japan and the module will be fabricated and delivered from the company's modular fabrication facility at Hazira.
The order will be executed on a lump sum turnkey basis, with the completion scheduled by 08 May 2009.
Petroleum Products
MSK Projects India received orders worth Rs.34.88 crore from Bharat Oman Refineries, for civil and structural works of pipeline terminals for Bina Refinery's Vadinar-Bina Pipeline project.
Bharat Heavy Electricals bagged a Rs.430 crore order from Indian Oil Corporation, to supply steam generators from IOC's Vadodara project. BHEL will supply two heat recovery steam generators and will design, engineer, manufacture and commission six gas turbines for IOC's oil residue upgradation and quality improvement projects at the Gujarat refinery.
Oil & Gas Pipelines
PSL has emerged as the lowest bidder for Indian Oil Corporation's gas pipeline project, for 30 diametre pipes from Dadri to Panipat. The order is valued at Rs.165 crore. The award of contract is pending.
Electricity
Sunil Hitech Engineers has bagged two orders amounting to Rs.152.4 crore from Maharashtra State Power Generation Co., as follows:

Work on both orders is scheduled for completion within 24 months.
According to unconfirmed reports, BHEL, Bhopal has bagged a Rs.163 crore (about $40.75 million) order from NTPC for 27 transformers. The order totaling to more than 3,500 MVA, is the single largest such order finalised in India, till date.
The contract includes complete power transformer package including 400 kV generator transformers, station transformers and unit transformers, to be used for the Korba super thermal power project (STTP), the Dadri super thermal power project (STPP) and the Farakka power project.
IMP Powers bagged an order worth Rs.25 crore from Sunil Hi-tech Engineers for supplying EHV transformers of 50 MVA/100 MVA, to be executed within six to nine months.
Diamond Cables bagged orders aggregating to Rs.75 crore from various distribution companies of GUNVL and various private customers, to supply 25,000 km of aluminum alloy distribution conductors. The orders are to be executed before March 2008.
Larsen & Toubro has secured a Rs.114.43 crore order from Steel Authority of India (SAIL), for the turnkey construction of 220/132 kV gas insulated substation and associated transmission network, for SAIL's Bhilai Steel Plant in Chhattisgarh.
The work involves supply, erection and commissioning the main step down sub-station (MSDS - V). MECON is the project consultant and the contract duration will be 16 months from June 2007.
The scope of work includes construction of 220 kV (10 bays)/ 132 kV (16 Bays) gas insulated sub-station, state-of-the-art four-storied control room, installation of sub-station automation system (SAS), HVAC/fire fighting system, 160 MVA power transformers, AS / DC auxiliary power system, internal and external lighting, including EHV / HV cabling and associated 220/132kV transmission lines.
RTS Power Corporation bagged orders worth Rs.15.9 crore to supply cables, conductors and transformers to power utilities.
Alstom won a contract worth Rs.945 crore (approximately 175 million Euros) from Gujarat State Electricity Corporation (GSECL), for contracting the first Alstom GT26-based combined cycle power plant in India
This 370 MW plant will be an extension of the existing combined cycle power plant located at Utran in Gujarat. Under the contract, Alstom will provide all engineering, procurement and construction services to deliver a fully integrated combined cycle power plant, with heat recovery steam generator, gas turbine and generator, steam turbine and generator, and DCS (Distributed Control System).
UK-based Invensys Process Systems bagged the contract from Electric Power Construction Corporation (SEPCO III), for a 3,600 MW power plant in Jharsuguda district of Orissa.
Areva T&D India bagged an order worth Rs.115 crore from Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Co., (MPPTCL), for 22x160 MVA 220/132/33 kV auto transformers and 4x100 MVA 220/33/33 kV two winding transformers, including transportation and supervising the erection and commissioning of the transformers.
To be deployed in various grid sub-stations throughout Madhya Pradesh, these transformers will be used to establish new sub-stations and strengthen the existing ones. The project is funded by Asian Development Bank. The product delivery is expected to commence from mid-March, 2008, and complete by February 2009.

Railways & Urban Transportation
Parsvnath Developers has bagged a Rs.150 crore order from Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, to develop an ultra modern fully air-conditioned shopping mall outside Netaji Subhash Place Metro Station in Delhi. The Netaji Subhash Place mall to be spread over 2,50,000 sq.ft is expected to be fully operational within three years.
Alstom Transport led consortium bagged a Rs.255 crore contract from the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation for designing, manufacturing, supplying, installation and commissioning of train control and signaling system, for Metro Line 1 and 2 extensions. The extension covers 37 km and will be completed by March 2010. Alstom will provide its information and train control system "URBALIS" on both above and underground sections of the metro.
Kone Elevator of Finland, bagged an order from Delhi Metro Rail Corporation for 162 elevators for Phase II. The order, is expected to be completed by 2010.
Kalindee Rail Nirman (Engineers) received Rs.90.95 crore contract from Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, for the installation and commissioning of track work, for the Delhi Metro Rail Project (Phase II).
Aviation Infrastructure
GMR Hyderabad International Airport (GHIAL) has awarded the contract for ground handling activities of third party airlines, at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Shamshabad, to two consortiums - Menzies & Bobba and SATS, Indian Airlines and Air India. The seven-year concession agreement is valid from the date of operation of the airport.
Real Estate
RDB Industries has bagged the following contracts from Director General Married Accommodation Projects, New Delhi, to build 72 dwelling units at Fort Williams, Kolkata, over 18 months. [contract value: Rs.21 crore], Burdwan Municipalty, Burdwan to build residential and commercial complex at Burdwan and from Guwahati Municipal Development Authority to develop residential complex at Borsojai, Guwahati, on JV basis.
Special Economic Zone
Petron Engineering bagged a Rs.2.50 crore order from Wartsila India, to supply and erect two chimneys and supporting structures, at Moser Baer's SEZ project.
Commercial Complex
Indu Projects (IPL) has bagged the civil and structural works contract from DuPont, for the DuPont knowledge centre, coming up in ICICI knowledge park. IPL will develop five blocks by March 2008.
Nagarjuna Construction Co. bagged a Rs.61 crore construction order from National Institute of Technology, for a hostel building to accommodate 1,000 students, at NIT in Warrangal district of Andhra Pradesh. The construction work is scheduled for completion within 18 months.
Water & Waste Management
Pratibha Industries bagged an order worth Rs.19.69 crore from J&K Economic Reconstruction Agency, for improving the Nishat and Doodhganga water supply schemes, by providing and laying D 1 pipelines including allied works at Srinagar. The project is to be executed within 15 months.
Pratibha Industries bagged a Rs.26.44 crore order from Jabalpur Municipal Corporation, for providing, laying, jointing, testing and commissioning clear water rising mains and feeder mains at Jabalpur, for a water supply scheme project.

Hindustan Construction Co. has received a letter of intent from the superintending engineer, Dummugudem Project Circle, Tekulapally, Dist: Khammam, Irrigation & CAD Department, Government of Andhra Pradesh, for laying water pipeline under Rajiv Sagar Lift Irrigation Project (Dummugudem), Package No.32 in A.P. (order value : Rs.328.49 crore).
The Rajiv Sagar lift irrigation project involves both lift-cum-gravity canal, envisaging lifting 16.17 tmc of water from the Godavari river flowing through Pamulapally village.
Petroleum Products
Mumbai-based PSL bagged orders worth Rs.380 crore from Sharjah and Malaysia.
Petronas Malaysia has been contracted for $43 million (approx. Rs.176.3 crore) and the company has three orders worth $50 million (approx. Rs.205 crore), in Sharjah . Pipes for Petronas will be supplied from the Kandla unit in Gujarat, while the supply for Sharjah will partially be from the new unit at Sharjah. Petronas will use PSL pipes for its Peninsular Gas Utilisation Project - a Malaysian internal gas network. The order will be executed by March 2008.
Apart from supplying pipes, the company's unit in Hamriyah Free Trade Zone at Sharjah, will provide coating services both for onshore and off-shore pipelines and cater to the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar and Kuwait. The Sharjah facility has an installed capacity of 75,000 tpa of spiral pipes with facilities for three-layered polyethylene (3LPE) coating, internal liquid epoxy coating, and concrete weight-coating.
GEI Industrial Systems has bagged a Rs.35 crore export order from Solar Turbine Inc, USA, for supplying process gas coolers and lube oil coolers for compressor package for Oman Gas Co, Oman. This package includes high pressure compressor coolers and engine lube oil coolers.

Welspun-Gujarat Stahl Rohren bagged pipeline orders worth Rs.1,166 crore ($288 million) for supplying pipelines, overseas.
Electricity
KEC International has bagged a Rs.380 crore (US$ 94 million approx) order from Kazakhstan Electricity Grid Operating Co., to design, construct and commission a 475 km transmission line of 500 kV in the Ekibastuz-Agadyr section of the North-South Electricity Transit in Kazakhstan. This World Bank funded project, will be executed over a period of 27 months, for the KEGOC.

Larsen & Toubro in a JV with Eastern Contracting LLC (Eastern) has bagged a Rs.618.75 crore (AED 557.5 million) order from Victory Heights Golf Residential & Development LLC, United Arab Emirates, to build a residential property in Dubai Sports City.
The scope of work involves construction of Package 2 of the villa development involving 295 grandeur villas of Ground+1 configuration. The villas to be designed in 11 different types of Mediterranean, Spanish and European styles of architecture, will be constructed in Carmen, Novelia, Calida and Morella Villages of Victory Heights. The project work is scheduled for completion within 22 months from the date of commencement.
