Domestic & Overseas Orders
 

 

Here is a summary of major domestic and overseas orders bagged by Indian companies in May 2007. Information has been organised by major sectors to facilitate reference. This section also includes projects awarded to private sector companies for implementation on BOT/BOOT method.

 

Domestic Order

 

Non-metallic Mineral Products

 

Elecon Engineering has bagged a Rs.24 crore order from ACC Ambuja Cement, for supplying five sets of board/metre gauge wagon tipplers along with a side arm charger and an apron feeder.

 

Metallurgy

 

Surana Industries won a contract worth Rs.58 crore for boilers, ESP & turbine for 35 MW captive power plant for the integrated steel plant, in Raichur district of Karnataka.

 

The company has placed an order of Rs.36 crore with Cethar Vessels, Trichy, for boilers, Rs.14 crores with Qingdao Jieneng Power Station Engineering Co of China, Associated Power Team of Hyderabad for Turbine, and Rs.8 crore with Thermax of Pune for ESP.

 

Mineral Fuels

 

Petron Engineering Construction received a letter of award (LoA) from Zeeco India, for the erection and installation of HP / LP flare, for Reliance Industries Ltd.owned KG D6 Kakinada project, for a total value of Rs.4.5 crore.

 

Petroleum Products

 

Petron Engineering received a letter of award (LoA) worth Rs.7.76 crore from Zeeco India, for assembling and installing flare packages, for Reliance Petroleum's Jamnagar refinery project.

 

Oil & Gas Pipelines

 

Jaihind Projects consortium bagged an order worth Rs.153 crore from GAIL (India), for executing the Dabhol-Panvel Pipeline Project Phase-II (Part-A).

 

PSL bagged an order worth Rs.135 crore from GAIL (India), for an additional 124 km line of 30 inch diameter to execute the Dabhol-Panvel Pipeline project.

 

Punj Lloyd has been awarded a contract worth Rs.122.65 crore by GAIL (India), to execute Phase II of Panvel-Dabhol Pipeline project.

 

Electricity

 

OM Metals Infraprojects secured two orders worth Rs.158 crore from National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC), for executing hydromechanical works for the following two projects:

 

 
  • " 4x40 Teesta Low Dam Hydroelectric project (Stage-IV) in Darjeeling district of West Bengal. [contract value: Rs.99 crore]
  • " 4x60 MW Uri-II Hydroelectric project in Baramula district of Jammu & Kashmir. [contract value: Rs.59 crore].

 

The contract work is to be completed within a period of three years.

 

Kirloskar Brothers received a letter of award from NTPC Electric Supply Co., for supply of equipments/materials, installation, testing, commissioning and completion of facility, for rural electrification work in the Jamtara district of Jharkhand. The contract value is Rs.81.55 crore.

 

Tata Power Co. has signed a contract with Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction Co, Korea, for the 4,000 MW Mundra Ultra Mega Power Project (UMPP) in Gujarat. The contract for complete boiler, includes super critical boilers for five units of 800 MW each based on super critical technology required for such large sized units. The technical scope with clear terminal boundaries and interface scope for boiler, includes supply of super critical steam generator, air and flue gas system, auxiliaries, fuel oil systems, electrostatic precipitators and boiler field instrumentation.

 

Doosan's scope of work also includes civil works for boiler, ESP area and complete services including custom clearance, inland transportation, site handling, erection, commissioning and performance testing to make it an end-to-end scope for boiler.

 

RTS Power Corporation has bagged an order worth Rs.18.25 crore from power utilities (unspecified) for supply of 10/5/3.15 MVA power transformers

 

Roadways

 

On 07 May 2007, Soma Enterprise signed an agreement with National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), for the Rs.460 crore Nagpur- Hyderabad highway project in Andhra Pradesh. Part of the North - South Corridor on NH-7, the project has been awarded to the JV company of Soma Enterprise and Avinash Bhosale, on BOT (Annuity) basis. The concession period for the project is 20 years (including construction).

 

The project envisages four-laning of the Maharashtra-Andhra Pradesh border road in Islam Nagar from 175 km to 230 km on NH-7, in Andhra Pradesh.

 

The JV of Soma Enterprise and Sunway Construction Sdn Bhd (SunCon), bagged a contract worth Rs.329 crore from National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), for the four-lane National Highway connectivity to International Container Transshipment Terminal (ICTT) at Vallarpadam in Kerala. Work on the project is scheduled for completion within 30 months.

 

Railways & Urban Transportation

 

ABB Ltd has been awarded an order worth Rs.289 crore from Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, to supply the turnkey electrification package for Delhi Metro Rail project (Phase II). The project scope includes electrification of overhead lines, provision of auxiliary sub-stations and a state-of-the-art SCADA (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition) solution interconnecting all the stations en-route, linking the main receiving and traction sub-stations to a central control center and a back-up control centre.

 

Shipping Infrastructure

 

A JV of Soma Enterprise and Sunway Construction Sdn Bhd (SunCon), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sunway Holdings Inc Bhd, bagged a contract worth Rs.329 crore from National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for the four-lane National Highway connectivity to International Container Transshipment Terminal (ICTT) at Vallarpadam in Ernakulam district of Kerala. Work on the project is scheduled for completion within 30 months.

 

Aviation Infrastructure

 

Tenaga Parking (India) Pvt Ltd, a part of the Tenaga Group, was awarded a contract by GMR Hyderabad International Airport, for managing the automated parking management system at Rajiv Gandhi International airport, at Shamshabad in Ranga Reddy district, for a period of three years.

 

The main objectives of the parking management systems include provision of quality parking service and provisions for quick entry and exit from the parking points, reduction in dwell time and building MIS systems to support future planning and development.

 

Telecom

 

Sterlite Optical Technologies has received a contract worth Rs.169 crore from Mahanagar Telephone Nigam (MTNL), for deploying broadband and metro ethernet network in Delhi and Mumbai. The network, to be completed during by 2009, will be capable of handling about five lakh broadband connections in these cities.

 

Real Estate

 

Parsvnath Developers won a contract from Jamnagar Municipal Corporation (JMC), to develop a group housing complex at Jamnagar in Gujarat. The project to be spread on 13,200 square meters of land, will provide with all infrastructure facilities and luxuries required by its resident.

 

Ahluwalia Contracts India bagged order worth Rs.41.32 crore, for construction of Saluja Construction Co's residential complex 'The Verandas' at Sector 54 in Gurgaon district of Haryana.

 

Commercial Complex

 

Ahluwalia Contracts India has bagged an order worth Rs.22.45 crore from Agilent Technologies, for developing a campus at Manesar in Gurgaon district of Haryana.

 

Pratibha Industries secured a contract worth Rs.19.9 crore from GMS Construction, for construction of a commercial building at Kalina, Santacruz. The project is to be executed within nine months.

 

Hospitals

 

Pratibha Infrastructure, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Pratibha Industries, secured a contract worth Rs.80.5 crore from Asian Healthcare Services, for construction of multi-specialty hospital building at Worli. The scope of work involves construction of a two-level basement building, two towers in steel structure with 18 and 23 stories, respectively, with the encasing steel structure being in cement etc. The project is to be executed within 18 months.

 

Water & Waste Management

 

Pratibha Industries, in a JV with Australian-based Ostu - Stettin Hoch u Tiefbau GmbH, secured an order worth Rs.223 crore from Municipal Corporation of Brihanmumbai, for construction of a tunnel and allied works, at Modak Sagar, intended for transportation of water. The project involves construction of a 7.5 km long tunnel of 4100 mm diameter with allied works such as intake and pipeline for transportation of water. The project is to be executed within 48 months.

 

Irrigation

 

IVRCL Infrastructures & Projects bagged two orders worth Rs.551 crore from Government of Andhra Pradesh, Irrigation and CAD department, for the following projects:

 

 
  • Investigation, design, supply and erection of components, to lift 8.30 TMC in 45 days, from elevation plus 204m to plus 221m from foreshore of Gandikota Reservoir Storage Reservoir-1 near Thimmapuram Village [contract value: Rs.275 crore]
  • Investigation, design, supply and erection of components, to lift 8.10 TMC in 45 days, from elevation plus 204m to plus 236m from foreshore Storage Reservoir-1 near Thimmapuram Village to Storage Reservoir-2 near Yellanur Village [contract value: Rs.276 crore].

 

Nagarjuna Constructions Co. bagged an order worth Rs.128.93 crore from the Andhra Pradesh Irrigation & Command Area Development Department, for the investigation, design and execution of widening the SRBC main canal and constructing additional structures for the Srisailam Right Branch Canal Irrigation project.

 

Kirloskar Brothers jointly bagged contracts worth Rs.1,338.9 crore from the Government of Andhra Pradesh, Irrigation & CAD Department, for investigation, design, supply and erection of components to lift water:

 

1. JV Company: IVRCL-KBL

 

 
  • Contract: From foreshore of Gandikota Reservoir Storage near Thimmapuram village.
  • Total Contract value: Rs.275 crore
  • KBL portion of contract value: Rs.52 Crore

 

2. JV Company: IVRCL-KBL

 

 
  • Contract: From foreshore of Gandikota Reservoir Storage near Thimmapuram village to reservoir near Yellanur village.
  • Total contract value: Rs.276 Crore
  • KBL portion of contract value: Rs.52 Crore

 

3. JV Company: Maytas-Kirloskar

 

 
  • Contract: From reservoir near Yellanur village to storage reservoir near Goddamvaripalli village including formation of storage reservoir and providing distributory system for 3500 acres of ayacut in Anantapur district. (project details)
  • Total contract value: Rs.129.50 Crore
  • KBL Portion of contract value: Rs.27.5 Crore

 

4. JV Company: Larsen & Toubro-KBL

 

 
  • Contract: From storage reservoir near Goddamvaripalli village including improvements to Goddumarri Anicut in Anantapur district. (project details)
  • Total contract value: Rs.332 Crore
  • KBL portion of contract value: Rs.59.25 Crore

 

5. JV Company: KBL-MEE-KCCPL

 

 
  • Contract: From foreshore of Goddumarri Anicut to Chitravathi under Telugu Ganga Project, Kadapa - Pilot Micro Irrigation Scheme under Gandikota Reservoir.
  • Total contract value: Rs.326.40 Crore
  • KBL portion of contract value: Rs.118 crore

 

Hindustan Construction Co. in a JV with Coastal Projects (CPPL), received an order worth Rs.735 crore from the Andhra Pradesh government for irrigation tunnel work of the Pula Subbaiah Veligonda Project. The contract envisages investigation, design, execution and construction of 18.8 km of the 9.2m internal diameter tunnel, for the water transmission system linking Srisailam Reservoir upto Guntur-Kurnool road, which would join into the Feeder canal.

 

The contract also includes operation and maintenance of the tunnel for a period of two years after successful commissioning of the tunnel. The project will be completed within 60 months from the date of conclusion of the agreement.

 

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) bagged two orders valued at Rs.412 crore for the following:

 

L&T in JV with Kirloskar Brothers bagged a lift irrigation contract worth Rs.332 crore, on EPC basis, from the Irrigation & Command Area Development Dept (ICAD), Government of Andhra Pradesh.

 

The lift irrigation contract from ICAD involves investigation, design, supply and erection of necessary lift systems with all electrical and mechanical components, surge protection systems, control valves, etc., for lifting 7.80 TMC water from Goddamvaripalli village to Goddumarri Anicut in the Cuddappah district of Andhra Pradesh, including operation and maintenance. L&T's share in the contract is Rs.274 crore.

 

Overseas Order

 

Metallurgy

 

Welspun Gujarat Stahl Rohren, won new orders worth Rs.700 crore ($170 million) for the supply of pipelines to international clients. The company's current pending order book position stands at around Rs.4,700 crore, including orders executed in the last quarter of fiscal year 2006-07.

 

Petroleum Products

 

Dutch Engineering consultancy Fugro NV, won a $145 million seismic contract from Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC). The project work will be executed by one of Fugro's 3D seismic vessels, over two consecutive field seasons in 2007-08 and 2008-09, with a duration of about seven months per season.

 

Electricity

 

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) secured a Rs.215 crore order from Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority, for supply and installation of power and fibreoptic cables. The scope of work includes, supply and installation of 33 kV power cables for inter- connections between eleven sub-stations in the eastern region of Abu Dhabi. According to the contract, the company is required to carry out the work as per the specifications laid down by international consultant - Lahmeyer International Gmbh. ]

 

The order is to be executed within a period of 18 months.

 

Suzlon Wind Energy Corporation, USA, a subsidiary of Suzlon Energy has signed a contract with PPM Energy of Portland, Oregon for a total of 400 MW of wind turbine capacity. The delivery of the 300 MW of wind turbine capacity is expected by 2008, while the 100 MW of wind turbine capacity will be delivered by 2009.
