Metallurgy
Jaihind Projects bagged a Rs.30.3 crore order from Brahmani River Pellet
Ltd. to execute the pipeline works for an iron ore slurry pipeline, for the
pellet plant at Jaipur, in Orissa.
Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) bagged a Rs.394 crore contract from
Rashtriya Ispat Nigam, to set up a captive power plant at its Vizag steel
plant. The power plant slated to be commissioned within 26 months, will
contain a state-of-the-art multi-fuel fired boiler which will use blast furnace
gas, and waste gas to be generated from the steel making process; all
resulting in appreciable fuel savings.
BHEL's scope of work includes design, engineering, manufacture, supply,
erection and commissioning the captive power plant, in addition to complete
civil works. BHEL will supply one 67.5 MW steam turbine generator set of
extraction condensing type designed to suit the specific process requirement
of the customer, and a 330 tph multi-fuel fired boiler with controls &
instrumentation (C&I) package on a unified platform (max dNA system),
and other associated auxiliaries. The boiler will be manufactured at BHEL's
Tiruchy plant, while the steam turbine generator set will be supplied by
BHEL's Hyderabad plant.
Petron Engineering Construction received a Rs.13.3 crore contract from
Vedanta Aluminium to install anode and a grouping & cleaning system, for
the aluminium smelter project at Jharsuguda in Orissa.
Gayatri Projects bagged construction orders worth Rs.27.59 crore from JSW
Steel, to undertake civil work for a plant in Karnataka [contract value: Rs.17
crore] and from Engineer in Chief, Public Health, Hyderabad for water
supply improvement scheme and construction assistance. [contract value:
Rs.10.59 crore].
Siemens along with Siemens AG, Germany has bagged a Rs.330 crore order
from Tata Steel, and will provide a power distribution network for Tata
Steel's integrated steel plant at Kalinganagar in Orissa.
The scope of work includes supplying the latest high voltage and medium
voltage gas insulated switchgears, MV switchboards, controls and protection
panels, sub-station control and automation systems and energy management
systems. The project is scheduled to be commissioned by end-2009.
Petroleum Products
Larsen & Toubro bagged a Rs.693 crore order from Indian Oil Corporation,
to set up sulphur recovery plants, on EPC basis, as part of their fuel
upgradation project, at Koyali in Gujarat.
The scope of work includes two trains of 300 tpd sulphur recovery units
(EPCC - 5) along with associated facilities such as amine regeneration unit
sour water stripper and a tail gas treatment unit for enhanced sulphur
recovery up to 99.9 per cent. Toyo Engineering India has been appointed by
IOCL to provide project management consultancy (PMC) and Black & Veatch (USA) are the process licensors.
Fabtech Projects & Engineers bagged a Rs.120 crore order from Hindustan
Petroleum Corporation, to set up an advanced LPG and propylene mounded
storage system at its Visakhapatnam refinery in Andhra Pradesh.
Electricity
Suzlon Energy bagged an order from DLF to set up a wind farm of 150 MW
wind turbine capacity, in Gujarat. The order includes installing 100 units of
Suzlon's S82 MW turbines (1.5 MW each) by March 2008.
CS Software Enterprise bagged orders worth Rs.3.7 crore from
Dakshinachal Vidyut Vitran Nigam for GIS and indexing of new consumers,
billing and collections in Agra.
Patel Engineering bagged a Rs.428 crore order from National Hydroelectric
Power Corporation for a 520 MW (4x130 MW) Tapovan Vishnugad
hydroelectric power project at Dhauliganga River in Uttarakhand.
Its scope of work includes building a surge shaft, pressure shaft, penstock,
tail race tunnel, switch yards and a power house. The work order is to be
completed within 48 months.
ICSA India bagged orders worth Rs.93.47crore from Chhattisgarh State
Electricity Board, Raipur to implement the Atal Jyoti Yojna under the O&M
division in Bhilai, Bhatapura, Bernetra, Durg-I and Durg-II areas, on total
turnkey basis. The scope of work includes design, supply and erection of
11kV, 33/11 kV Lines and 63 KVA, 100 KVA sub-stations.
Yokogawa India received a $11.8 million contract from NTPC to supply
automation and control system for the 3x660 MW Barh power project in
Bihar. The scope of work includes instrumentation systems for the boilers
and other utilities of three power generators. As part of its full turnkey
project solution, Yokogawa India is providing engineering, installation, and
commissioning services.
McNally Bharat Engineering Co. received a Rs.38.31 crore order from
Maharashtra State Power Generation Co., for design, engineering,
manufacture, supply, erection, testing and commissioning an ash handling
system, for its New Parli thermal power project.
Bharat Heavy Electricals bagged a Rs.1,900 crore order from GSPC Pipavav
Power Co., to implement its 2x350 MW gas-based power project in Amreli,
Gujarat.
National Hydroelectric Power Corporation has signed an agreement with
Bharat Heavy Electricals to execute electrical and mechanical works of its 44
MW Chutak hydroelectric power project in Kargil, at a cost of Rs.227.73
crore. The scope of work involves design, manufacture, supply,
transportation to site, handling, erection, testing & commissioning works of
turbines, including the digital type governing system, generators along with
static excitation system, associated accessories and auxiliaries, generator
step-up transformer, bus duct, computer based control, protection and
monitoring equipment, along with other electrical and mechanical
auxiliaries.
Energy Development Co. received a Rs.14 crore contract to supply ,
supervise and commission turbine/generator and associated works for a
hydroelectric power project. The order is expected to be complete within 15
months.
IMP Powers bagged a Rs.65 crore order from Maharashtra State Electricity
Board to supply EHV transformers of 132 and 220 kV class. The order will be
executed within six to nine months.
ABB bagged orders worth Rs.512 crore from JSW and their associated
companies, to provide turnkey power and automation solutions at their steel
and power plant projects. The work includes:
Electrical balance of plant (EBoP) solutions for Raj WestPower's 8x135 MW
lignite based power plant in Barmer, and JSW Energy's 300 MW coal-based
power plant (Unit I) at Torangallu in Bellary. Other systems and equipments
include transformers, sub-stations, electronic drives and a range of medium
and low voltage switchgears and electricals. The projects are expected to be
commissioned by 2009.
Larsen & Toubro (L&T) bagged orders worth Rs.452 crore for four projects
in Andhra Pradesh.

- NTPC awarded a Rs.226 crore engineering, procurement & construction
contract for the 2x500 MW Simhadri super thermal power project (Stage-
II) in Visakhapatnam. L&T's scope of work includes design, engineering,
procurement, supply, erection, testing and commissioning two streams of
the 1,600 tph coal handling plant, along with civil, structural, electrical
and instrumentation works. This involves constructing a 7 km conveyor
belt, supplying two stacker reclaimers, four crushers, and four paddle
feeders including associated electromechanical equipment. The project is
to be completed within 39 months.

The three other contracts worth Rs.226 crore were from Public Health &
Municipal Engineering Department, Government of Andhra Pradesh, and
they include:

- Engineering, procurement and construction of an underground drainage
scheme for the Nizamabad Township. The project involves laying sewer
pipelines covering 470 km, setting up a sewage treatment plant and
pumping system; all to be completed within 24 months. [contract value:
Rs.93 crore]
- Engineering, procurement and construction of a water supply
improvement scheme to Nellore Town. This involves constructing a
water treatment plant, reservoirs, pumping stations and laying pipelines
covering 88 km, with a completion schedule of 18 months. [contract value:
Rs.88 crore]
- Engineering, procurement and construction of a water supply
improvement scheme to reach Rayadurg in Andhra Pradesh, involving
construction of a water treatment plant, reservoirs, pumping stations,
supply and laying pipelines covering 27 km, on EPC basis, and having a
completion schedule of 15 months. [contract value: Rs.45 crore]

Diamond Cables bagged conductor orders aggregating to 15,000 km to be
executed within the next nine months.
CS Software Enterprise has bagged orders estimated to be worth Rs.72 lakh
from Dakshin Gujarat Vij Co., for implementing electricity billing.
Railways (Urban Transportation)
Bombardier Transportation has received a Rs.170 crore contract from the
Delhi Metro Rail Corporation for rail signaling equipment works for the
Delhi Metro Rail Project (Phase II). The contract involves designing, manufacturing, supplying, installing,
testing and commissioning the 'Bombardier CITYFLO 350' train control and
signaling systems for two new section of lines, aggregating to 37 km in
length.
BEML bagged a Rs.1,144 crore order from Delhi Metro Rail Corporation to
supply 156 state-of-art standard gauge stainless steal metro cars for the
Delhi Metro Rail Project (Phase II).
Aviation Infrastructure
GMR Hyderabad International Airport (GHIAL) has awarded HMS Host,
the contract to set, operate and maintain a food & beverage outlet at its Rajiv
Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad in Ranga Reddy. Accordingly,
HMS Host will handle the major part of the F&B outlet, which will be
located on the airside at departure level (both international and domestic)
and at the bus gates. The total area allotted to HMS Host will be 670 sq.m.
Housing Development & Infrastructure (HDIL) received a letter of intent
(LoI) from Mumbai International Airport for resettlement and rehabilitation
of slums at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport. The slums are
spread over 276 acres of land and it would require around 2,000 acres for the
entire rehabilitation. Of this, HDIL will receive a section to resettle about
80,000 slums, while the remaining land will come from the government and
other agencies.
Instead, of allotting the entire 2,000 acres of the Mumbai airport land, for
commercial development, 10 per cent (200 acres) has been allotted to MIAL,
of which, HDIL will receive part as transferable development right.
According to the agreement, the developer will not receive financial
compensation from MIAL. The rehabilitation will be undertaken in phases
spread over 18 to 48 months.
Real Estate
Simplex Projects bagged a Rs.115 crore order from various agencies for
piling, foundation and residential complex primarily in Kolkata. Piling and
foundation contracts of approximately Rs.62 crore are to be completed
within three to six months.
Commercial Complex
Lanco Infratech bagged a Rs.73 crore order from Tirupati Tirumala
Devasthanams, Thirupati to construct the Sri Venkateswara Vedic
University at Alipiri, Thirupati; to be completed within 24 months.
A consortium led by Reliance Energy won a Rs.6,000 crore order from the
Andhra Pradesh government, to set up a 100-storey trade tower and a
business centre over 77 acres of land in Hyderabad. The consortium received
a letter of award (LoA) from the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure
Corporation (APIC) for the project.
The project work involves design, development, funding, construction,
marketing, operation and maintenance, for which, a special purpose vehicle
(SPV) will be formed by the consortium and APIIC. The project will be
completed in three phases. The trade tower spread over 4 million sq.ft. will
be set up in the first phase. In Phase II, the business district will be
developed on 30 acres in seven years, while Phase III will include
developing the business district over the remaining 16.28 acres of land.
Water & Waste Management
Unity Infraprojects bagged orders worth Rs.224.82 crore from:

- Central Public Works Department for re-modeling and upgrading the
Dhyan Chand national stadium being made ready for the
Commonwealth Games 2010, along with civil and electrical engineering
works; all to be completed within 18 months. [contract value: Rs.147.82
crore].
- Thane Municipal Corporation for constructing an additional 110 MLD
water supply scheme from Pise Head Works. The order has been bagged
in JV with Nagarjuna Construction Co. and SMC Infrastructures [contract
value: Rs.77 crore].

A consortium led by Unity Infraprojects bagged three contracts aggregating
to Rs.238.91 crore from Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM),
to design and construct storm water pumping stations including supply,
delivery, erection, commissioning of mechanical, electrical, instrumentation
and comprehensive operation maintenance of a pumping plant at Haji Ali,
Cleveland Bunder (Worli), and Love Grove (Worli).
Irrigation
IVRCL Infrastructures & Projects bagged a Rs.761.24 crore order from
Government of Andhra Pradesh, Irrigation & CAD Department, for Handri
Niva Sujala Shravanthi (HNSS) main canal project for (Stage II of Phase I) in
Kurnool and Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, on EPC turnkey basis
The scope of work includes investigation, design, manufacture, supply of
pumps, motors and pressure mains at site, erection, commissioning and
testing eight numbers of hydro-mechanical, electro-mechanical and other
accessories at each pumping station, along with the equipment and
maintenance of 12 pumps at each pumping station, and the system for 15
years.
Overseas Order
Chemicals (incl rubber, fertilizers)
Larsen & Toubro (L&T) bagged a $60 million engineering and procurement
order from Saudi Arabia-based Chemanol, to set up high-technology plants
that would manufacture 50,000 tpa methylamines and 60,000 tpa dimethyl
formamides.
L&T would look into residual process design, detailed engineering, project
management and procuring equipment & materials. It will also provide
technical services for erecting and commissioning the plant.
Oil & Gas Pipelines
Patels Airtemp India received an order worth 11.90 lakh euros (approx Rs.7
crore) from Fasam S.R.L. Italy, for high-tech pressure vessels, for a gas
pipeline project in Iran.
Punj Lloyd won a Rs.389 crore contract from Qatar Petroleum, to construct
a multi-product pipeline, on EPC basis. The scope of work involves
engineering, procurement & construction of an 18" multi-product pipeline spanning 46 km, from Messaieed refinery to Doha Depot ,on LSTK basis, for
the Qatar Petroleum. The project is likely to be completed within 17 months,
and also involves station work at Messaieed refinery and Doha depot.
Electricity
Bharat Heavy Electricals bagged a Rs.150 crore order from Al Ghail Power
LLC for two gas turbine generating units of 42 MW each. Al Ghail Power
LLC is a wholly owned company of Ras Al Khaimah Investment Authority
(RAKIA), Govt. of Ras Al Khaimah. Ras Al Khaimah.
US-based Suzlon Wind Energy Corporation, the wholly owned subsidiary
of Suzlon Energy, signed a contract with Horizon Wind of Houston, Texas,
owned by Portuguese utility EDP (Energias de Portugal, S.A.), to supply 400
MW wind turbine capacity. The 200 MW turbine capacity will be supplied
by 2008 and another 200 MW by 2009.
Real Estate
Hiranandani Constructions has bagged its second residential project in
Dubai. Its first project titled '23 Marina', a 90-storey tower of 1million sq.ft.
in Dubai, is considered to be the world's tallest residential structure. Besides
Dubai, Hiranandani Constructions is looking at special economic zones
(SEZs) and townships in Mumbai, Jaipur, Ahmedabad and other tier-II
cities. It is also in talks with Apollo Group and Wockhardt for hospital
projects.
