With India's L&T bagging three orders worth Rs 3,957 crore in foreign shores during August 2011, the total overseas segment of orders book stood at Rs 4,245 crore during the month, as against Rs 4,874 crore of July 2011. In totality, the segment witnessed lull (the same as July 2011). Of the total 42 contracts, worth Rs 7,957 crore finalised during the month, the Indian companies like L&T and Siemens bagged 50 per cent of the contracts in terms of value in foreign shores. 38 contracts worth Rs 3,712 crore were bagged in India, while four were bagged by Indian companies in UAE, Thailand, and Bangladesh. L&T secured three contracts in the Mineral Fuels and Gas pipeline sector in the foreign shores. The companies biggest order is worth Rs 2,003 crore from Abu Dhabi Marine Operating Company for engineering, procurement, construction and installation for the early production project Phase I of Nasr & Umm Lulu Field Development project, including four wellhead towers and manifold tower platform, connecting bridges and associated sub-sea pipelines. It bagged another order worth Rs 841 crore for engineering, procurement, construction and installation of the 123 km Habshan- Ruwais-Shuweihat gas pipeline project in Abu Dhabi. In Thailand, the company was awarded installation of three wellhead topsides and three underwater jackets, besides laying a 21 km 18 inch subsea pipelines for Phase 1A of its Zawtika development project, worth Rs 1,113 crore by PTTEP International.

 

On the domestic front, maximum orders were bagged in the Power sector. The sector saw awarding of 13 orders worth Rs 1,193 crore. Among these, significant contracts were awarded in the Solar and Nuclear Power Sector. Shriram EPC bagged a Rs 640 crore order from Abhijeet Group of Companies for Design, engineering, procurement, supply, erection, testing & commissioning for a 50 MW solar thermal power plant in the Jaisalmer district of Rajasthan. BGR Energy Systems' Electrical projects division secured a contract worth Rs 440 crore from NPCIL for supply of main plant electricals at two of its upcoming nuclear power plants in (2x700 MWe) at Kota in Rajasthan and (2x700 MWe) at Kakrapar in Gujarat.

Further, seven order worth Rs 1,414 crore were finalised in the Roadways Sector. The PWD, Bihar awarded a contract worth Rs 917 crore to Atlanta for four-laning of Mohania - Ara section of NH-30 on DBFOT - Toll basis for a length of 116.76 km connecting Patna and Durgavati, via Dinara and Hisadi Bazar in Bihar. Arss Infrastructure bagged two road projects - one from the Punjab Infrastructure Development Board and the other from the Orissa Government. It will rehabilitate, up-grade and widen the existing carriageway of Ropar - Chamkaur Sahib-Neelon Section (45.175 km) of two-lane standards, with paved shoulders and from Neelon-Doraha Section (upto NH-1) (9.625 km) to four-lane standards with construction of new carriageway, rehabilitation of existing pavement, construction and/or rehabilitation of major and minor bridges, culverts, road intersections, interchanges, drains, traffic signage and traffic measures in Punjab. In Orissa, its work involves widening to two-lane and improvement in Km 46.300 to 36.000 of Jagannathpur - Berhampur - Phulabani Road (SH- 7) and in Km 35.300 to 62.000 of Chikiti - Digapahandi - Aska road (SH-29) in Ganjam district under Vijayawada - Ranchi Corridor.
