The month of July 2012 saw a total 2,908 project tenders worth Rs.20,297 crore being floated. Among the floated tenders, 2,267 tenders worth Rs.14,231 crore were by the State Government, 619 tenders worth Rs.6,025 crore by the Central Government and balance 22 tenders were by private sector companies.
The most notable tender during the month was issued by Gujarat State Electricity Corporation (GSECL) for consultancy services to carry out feasibility study and preparation of DPR for installation of 2x800 MW coal based supercritical thermal power plant at Mojap village in Dwarka taluka of Jamnagar district in Gujarat.
Another important tender during the month was issued by Chennai Port Trust (ChPT). On 9 July 2012, ChPT invited RFPs for preparation of feasibility report for development of dry dock facility at Timber Pond/Boat Basin in Chennai Port under PPP.
Among the sectors, the Roadways sector continued to be at the top with 1,093 tenders worth Rs.7,195 crore, followed by Community Services (472 tenders worth Rs.1,538 crore), Irrigation (272 tenders worth Rs.1,288 crore) and Railways (263 tenders worth Rs.1,503 crore). In this sector, most significant tender was issued by the NHAI. On 19 July 2012, the NHAI invited global RFQs for four laning of Vikkravandi- Meensuruti section and two laning with paved shoulders of Meensuruti-Thanjavur section in Tamil Nadu. The cost of this project is estimated at Rs.1,090 crore.
The Shipping Infrastructure sector witnessed 16 tenders worth Rs.717 crore being floated during the month. Some of the major tenders floated in this sector were by -

The Power Distribution sector saw the 154 tenders worth Rs.4,361 crore being floated during the month. The Bihar State Electricity Board (BSEB) on 11 July 2012 invited tenders for rural electrification works in 11 districts of Bihar on turnkey basis in separate packages. The aggregate cost of these packages is Rs.3,949 crore
Among the states, Madhya Pradesh accounted for a total of 317 tenders worth Rs.2,264 crore followed by Rajasthan (255 tenders worth Rs.1,200 crore), Maharashtra (217 tenders worth Rs.908 crore) and Tamil Nadu (209 tenders worth Rs.2,006).
