During the September 2012, a total of 4,248 project tenders worth Rs 30,162 crore were floated. Among the floated tenders, 3,604 tenders worth Rs 15,849 crore were by various state governments, 613 tenders worth Rs 14,251 crore by the Central Government and balance 31 tenders were by private companies.
The most notable tender during the month was issued by Jammu & Kashmir State Power Development Corporation (JKSPDCL). On 21 September 2012, JKSPDCL invited global RFQs for execution of 390 MW Kirthai-I hydro electric project in Kishtwar district of Jammu & Kashmir on EPC mode.
Another important tender during the month was issued by the Airports Authority of India. On 08 September 2012, the AAI invited for preparation of DPR and obtaining environmental clearance for construction of greenfield airport at Holongi, Itanagar in Arunachal Pradesh. Among the sector, the Roadways sector continued to be at the top with 2,137 tenders worth Rs 18,615 crore. In this sector, the NHAI invited a total 25 tenders worth Rs 10,568 crore. Out of this, a significant tender was for four-laning of Baharagora-Sambalpur section of NH-6 from Km 200.00 to Km 566.200 in Jharkhand and Orissa to be executed as BOT (Toll) on DBFOT under NHDP-IV. The cost of this project is estimated at Rs 2,949 crore. Another important tender in the same sector was issued by Gujarat State Road Development Corporation for the construction of Ahmedabad-Dholera-Bhavnagar Expressway Section-DS1 from km 75.00 to km 94.5 in the state of Gujarat. The cost of this project is estimated at Rs 606 crore. The Irrigation sector saw a total of 408 tenders worth Rs 1,970 crore being floated during the month. The Irrigation Department, Uttar Pradesh. On 10 September 2012, the Irrigation Department invited RFQs for execution/completion of balance works of Bansagar Canal Project including canal lining and construction of new structures. The cost of this project is estimated at Rs 400 crore.
The Water Supply sector saw 261 tenders worth Rs 2,609 crore during the month of September 2012. The most notable tender in this sector was invited by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board (HMWSSB). On 16 September 2012, the HMWSSB invited bids in 10 basis in Tamil Nadu.
