MSRDC plans water transport along East & West Coast of Mumbai

 

The month of March 2012 witnessed a total of 3,361 project tenders worth Rs 30,813 crore being floated. Among these, 2,525 tenders worth Rs 23,151 crore were by the various state governments, 807 tenders worth Rs 7,631 crore by the Central Government and balance 29 tenders were by the private sector companies.

After years of uncertainty, Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) invited bids for infrastructure development of water transport system along East & West Coast of Mumbai. MSRDC invited bids in separate packages for the construction of terminal facilities for Passenger Water Transport along West Coast of Mumbai at Nariman Point, Juhu, Bandra, Versova, Borivali and Marve. Besides, it invited another tenders for Passenger Water Transport along East Coast of Mumbai at Ferry Wharf, Nerul and Mandwa and construction of elevated road / flyover from Ferry Wharf to P D Mello Road and Eastern Freeway at Orange Gate. The aggregate cost of these packages is estimated at Rs 1,109 crore.

 

Another notable tender during the month was issued by the Ministry of Railways for consultancy services for the setting up of 700 MW Thakurli combined cycle power project in Thane district of Maharashtra. The services include preparation of the DPR and environment clearance including environment impact assessment studies.

 

Among the sectors, the Roadways sector continued to be at the top with 1,167 tenders worth Rs 9,861 crore. The most important tender in this sector was issued by the NHAI for four laning of Khed-Sinnar section from Km 42.00 to Km 177.00 of NH-50 under NHDP-IV in Maharashtra on DBFOT basis. The cost of this project is estimated at Rs 1,348 crore. Another tender in the same sector was issued by the Gujarat State Road Development Corporation for construction of Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway including new link to International Airport at Dholera in the state of Gujarat.

The Hospital sector saw a total of 52 tenders worth Rs 295 crore being floated during the month. In this sector, the National Rural Health Mission, Assam, invited bids for the establishment of superspecialty hospital at Amingaon in Kamrup district of Assam under PPP. Another tender in the same was issued by the Department of Health & Family Welfare, Meghalaya for the development of Medical College & Teaching Hospital at Shillong, Meghalaya under PPP.

 

 

The Water Supply sector saw the 257 tenders worth Rs 2,244 crore being floated during the month. The most noteworthy tender in this sector was issued by the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), Rajasthan. The PHED invited bids in two separate packages for Nagaur Lift Project, Phase I with operation and maintenance for 10 years on turnkey basis. The scope of works includes construction of cluster distribution network; IEC activities pump house clear water reservoirs, over head service reservoirs, 33 kV switchyards, village distribution network. The aggregate cost of this project is estimated at Rs 459 crore.Another notable tender in the same sector was issued by Narmada Water Resource Water Supply & Kalpsar Department, Gujarat for providing & laying 2,000 mm dia GRP pipeline from Karannagar to Dhandhusan in Gujarat on DBFOT basis. The cost of this project is estimated at Rs 202 crore.

 

Among the states, Madhya Pradesh accounted for a total of 393 tenders worth Rs 3,940 crore followed by Karnataka (263 tenders worth Rs 2,346 crore), Andhra Pradesh (260 tenders worth Rs 859 crore) and Chhattisgarh (254 tenders worth Rs 814 crore).

 

Some of the major tenders floated in the private sector were:

 

 
  • Chettinad Power Corporation invited global bids for Balance of Plant Package for 2x660 MW supercritical thermal power plant at Tharangambadi in Nagapattinam district of Tamil Nadu.
  • GVK Coal (Tokisud) Company invited bids for coal handling plant of 1,000 TPH capacity on turnkey basis at Tokisud North Captive Coal Mine in Hazaribagh district of Jharkhand.
  • Moser Baer Clean Energy invited global bids for design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, erection, testing and commissioning of five MWp Solar PV Power Project on EPC basis at Durgapur in West Bengal.
  • Cairn Energy India Pty invited bids on lump sum turnkey contract for deck extension, installation of water separation & treatment package and installation of 16 MT capacity crane at Unmanned Wellhead Offshore Platforms.
  • Hindustan Zinc invited bids from contractors and suppliers for execution of various and services for underground mines in Rajasthan.

  • The Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation for setting up of 2.5 million tpa cement plant in Kachchh district of Gujarat
  • MOIL for necessary tie up for jointly securing, exploring, mining, commercially exploiting and participating in value addition projects relating to coal blocks
  • The Urban Development Department, Himachal Pradesh for development of parking-cum-commercial complex at Vikasnagar (Shimla City) and Bilaspur in the state of Himachal Pradesh on DBFOT basis
  • The Chennai Port Trust for development of dry dock facility at Chennai Port under PPP
  • The Bhubaneswar Development Authority for development of integrated residential township at Khurda in Orissa under PPP

  • District Panchayat, Rajkot, has awarded contracts to Krunal Projects for implementation of Jamkandorna and Kotda Sangani underground drainage scheme in Rajkot district of Gujarat.
  • The Public Works Department, Madhya Pradesh, has awarded a contract to Komal Manlai for construction of degree college building at Kasrawad, Khargone in West Nimar district of the state.
  • District Panchayat, Navsari, has awarded contracts to Vimal Construction for implementation of Vansda and Chikhali underground drainage scheme in Navsari district of Gujarat.
