December 2012, witnessed a total of 4,316 project tenders worth Rs. 22,462 crore being floated. Among the floated tenders 3,614 tenders worth Rs. 16,435 crore were by the state government, 676 tenders worth Rs. 5,868 crore by the Central Government and the remaining 26 tenders were by private companies. During the month, the most notable tender was issued by NHAI. On 12 December 2012, NHAI invited global RFQs for four laning with paved shoulder of Hisar-Dabwali section of NH-10 from Km 170.000 to Km 315.550 in Haryana under NHDP-IV on DBFOT pattern. The cost of this project is estimated at Rs. 1,332 crore.

Another noteworthy tender during the month was issued by Tourism Department, Andhra Pradesh. On 7 December 2012, Tourism Department invited global RFQs for development of six mega tourism projects in Andhra Pradesh on PPP basis, which includes Tourism Park (150 acre) and Arogyadham (20 acre) at Madhurwada, Wonders of the World-Theme Park (60 acre) at Endada, International Convention Centre-cum-Expo Centre (20 acre) at Mudasarlova, Science & Entertainment City (45 acre) and World Class Theme Park (640 acre) in close proximity to Nagarjuna Sagar Dam. Among the sectors, Roadways sector continued to be at the top with 2,307 tenders worth Rs. 12,635 crore followed by Community Services (497 tenders worth Rs. 1,241 crore), Irrigation (237 tenders worth Rs. 1,918 crore) and Railways (235 tenders worth 1,305 crore). In the Irrigation sector, most significant tender was issued by the Krishna Bhagya Jala Nigam (KBJNL). On 24 December 2012, KBJNL invited bids for Koppal Lift Irrigation Scheme in Karnataka on turnkey basis. The scope of work includes design, supply, erection, testing & commissioning of VT pumps coupled to HT motor at proposed Koppal first lift head work viz., intake channel, pump house, manifold, along with electrical, panel, FCMA soft starter, capacitor, 220 kV power transformer, HT cabling, 220 kV substation, MS raising main, valves and construction of delivery chamber, supply of spares parts and tools. The cost of this project is estimated at Rs. 720 crore.
The Real Estate sector saw 93 tenders worth 983 crore being floated during the month. The notable tender in same sector was issued by Bihar Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation (BUIDCO). On 02 December 2012, BUIDCO invited RFQs for selection of developers for low cost housing project in Bihar under IHSDP component of JNNURM. The project involves the development of 13,656 dwelling units for slum dwellers living in 10 districts/cities i.e. Jamui, Farbisganj, Kishanganj, Barh, Naubatpur, Thakurganj, Nabi Nagar, Belsand, Mokama and Purnia. The cost of this project is estimated at Rs. 430 crore. Among the states, Uttar Pradesh accounted for a total of 610 tenders worth Rs. 2,526 crore followed by Madhya Pradesh (575 tenders worth 2,147 crore), Orissa (390 tenders worth 785 crore), Tamil Nadu (327 tenders worth 1,504 crore).
