NHAI seeks developers for
sixlaning of NH-6 under NHDP-V

 

 

Less number of project tenders floated by state government agencies pulled down the total number of project tenders floated in July by 122 numbers when compared with the June 2010 statistics. In all, 3,674 tenders worth Rs 28,189 crore were floated during the month of July 2010. The preceding month had seen 3,796 project tenders worth Rs 21,872 crore being floated. Thanks to some big ticket tenders floated in the Power Distribution and Roadways sectors the aggregate value of tenders floated in July 2010 was 28.9 per cent higher than such figures observed in June 2010.

Of the total tenders floated in July, 2,455 tenders worth Rs 17,630 crore were by State Government agencies, 1,145 tenders worth Rs 10,293 crore were by Central Government agencies and balance 74 tenders were by private companies. Among the tenders issued in July 2010, most notable one was by NHAI. On 9 July 2010, NHAI invited RfQs for six-laning of Dankuni to Kharagpur section from 17.600 km to 129.000 km of NH-6 on DBFOT (Toll) basis under NHDP-V in the state of West Bengal. The cost of the highway was estimated at Rs 1,396.18 crore. In all NHAI floated 27 project tenders worth Rs 6,156 crore during the month.

 

 

 

Some other major project tenders by NHAI were

 

 
  • Four-laning of Ranchi-Rargaon-Jamshedpur section of NH-33 in Jharkhand, NHDP-III.
  • Two-laning of Tindivanam-Krishnagiri section of NH-66 in Tamil Nadu, NHDP-III.
  • Two/Four-laning of Kota-Jhalawar section of NH-12 in Rajasthan, NHDP-III.

Another two notable tenders in the Roadways sector were floated by Gujarat State Road Development Corporation (GSRDC) and UP Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) for selection of consultants providing consultancy services. On 5 July 2010, UPEIDA invited bids for selection of consultants for development of six-lane accessed controlled expressway from Sanauta Bridge (Greater Noida) to Kanpur-Fatehpur on the bank of Upper/Lower Ganga Canal under PPP in Uttar Pradesh and on 19 July 2010, GSRDC invited bids for preparation of feasibility-cum-preliminary design report and to provide technical assistance to develop Ahmedabad-Dholera six-lane expressway under PPP in Gujarat.

 

Roadways topped the sector-wise list with 1,477 tenders worth Rs 12,876 crore. Railways, Community Services and Power Distribution followed the list with 365 tenders worth Rs 1,494 crore, 344 tenders worth Rs 1,059 crore and 260 tenders worth Rs 4,306 crore, respectively.

 

The Shipping Infrastructure sector saw 26 tenders being floated during July 2010. The most prominent tender in this sector was floated by Port Department, Government of Kerala. On 14July 2010, it invited bids for development of Ponnani port in Malappuram district of Kerala under PPP model. The cost of project was estimated at Rs 763 crore.

 

The state also saw another noteworthy announcement in the same sector by Vizhinjam International Seaport (VISL), a nodal agency of Government of Kerala. On 5 July 2010, VISL invited EoIs for development of a multi-purpose port at Vizhinjam in Kerala.

 

Among the states, Maharashtra topped the statewise list with 511 tenders worth Rs 1,713 crore. Orissa, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka followed the list with 457 tenders worth Rs 800 crore, 289 tenders worth Rs 485 crore and 227 tenders worth Rs 842 crore, respectively.

 

Private Sector

 

In the private sector, 74 tenders were floated during July 2010, mainly in the Power, Community Services and Petroleum Oil & Gas sectors. Some of the major tenders were by

 
  • Kutchh Power Generation, a member of Adani Group, for setting up of 5x660 MW capacity coal based thermal power project on EPC basis near Bhadreshwar village in Kutchh district of Gujarat.
  • Himavat Power Private, a Lanco Group company, for steam generators/steam turbine generators on EPC basis for setting up of 2x660 MW coal fired super-critical thermal power project in Ramabai Nagar (Kanpur Dehat) district of Uttar Pradesh.
  • Cairn Energy India for procurement, fabrication, erection and commissioning services for electrical and instrumentation system, civil construction and structural works for water injection system upgradation project (WISU-II) located in Ravva Field.
  • HDIL for construction of residential /commercial building towers at various locations in Mumbai.
  • EMCO Energy, a GMR Group company, for construction of 400 kV D/C twin moose transmission line package on turnkey basis from thermal power plant at Warora to PGCIL substation at Bhadravati.

 

 

Expressions of Interest (EoIs)

 

In July 2010, 92 EoIs related to the Power, Community Services and Roadways sectors were announced. Some major EoIs floated in the month were by

 
  • West Bengal Power Development Corporation, for preparation of feasibility study reports for 700 MW and 1,400 MW gas based combined cycle power project at Bandel TPS in Hooghly and Sagardighi TPS in Murshidabad district of West Bengal, respectively.
  • Indian Institute of Technology, Ropar, for preparation of master plan of the campus and design of buildings and allied services for IIT Ropar Campus in Punjab.
  • Steel Authority of India for suggesting a suitable location for development of a deep draft port through JV route on the Eastern Coast of India which should optimize logistics for SIAL plants.
  • NHAI for independent engineer for the work of two-laning of Mokam-Munger section from 1.430 km to 70.000 km of NH-80 in Bihar on BOT (Annuity) basis under NHDP-III.
  • Government of Himachal Pradesh for establishment of private medical colleges under Greenfield Project in Mandi Hamirpur, Chamba and Shirmour districts of Himachal Pradesh.

 

 

Empanelment of Consultants/Contractors

 

During July 2010, 27 notices were published, inviting applications for empanelment of consultants & contractors. Some of the major notices were

 
  • Pune Municipal Corporation invited bids for empanelment of project management consultants for various road and bridge projects in Pune city of Maharashtra.
  • Directorate of Sports & Youth Welfare, Government of Madhya Pradesh invited bids for empanelment of architects/consultants for construction of sports facility at selected location and construction, upgradation, developing existing facilities/stadiums in Madhya Pradesh.
  • Central Bank of India invited bids for empanelment of contractors for civil, interior and repair/ rehabilitation of existing building and electrical projects in Kolkata Zone.
